here's a couple of more from yesterday Raj.....
Second time it's been on eBay, like previous attempts it didn't make reserve. Probably a flipper, the car was offered in Watsonville area last month for $7500. Beach Boys Customs and Willco built most of them, note the windshield rake. The scoops are well designed IMHO and were part of the conversion... engine had to get air somehow, the top well is above the engine box. Service must require it's removal. They do look kinda cool with the top down, but I've never seen one with a top that fits worth a damn and the side windows always look wrong. Still... proto Boxter. Here's some more info:

Frank / Raj,
KJ wasn't kidding when he said I hadn't seen "my new 914". I haven't been following this thread every day and until he pointed it out this post to me today, I hadn't even seen a photo of the new ride. It was one of those unorthodox meetings of opportunity and tangled finances between friends that made the planets line up for the new ride. It's one in a long line of "sight unseen" deals that have happened along the way. There was a time when I didn't care much for the 914 breed...like most of the uninitiated 911 devotees. Then, after racings CZ's 2.5L roadster, I just couldn't let you guys have all the fun. I'm looking forward to the new ride and joining the discussion.

I'm told that it is a '73 2.0L/4 that was a friend's father/son project car. They took the body down to bare metal and addressed the usual flaws then did a a complete rebuild on the drive train. It's a basic white/black stock 914 that should be a very serviceable driver to run around with our band of local hooligans. However.... I sense that this 914 thing could be a very slippery slope. Raj can't walk by a "6" now without buying it and it has driven others to do some very peculiar things......:D

Let me tell the story Reza,
Its a 73'
OG white (but repainted) rust included!!
So here's the deal: do ya see the 1939 Auto Union DKW 500 cc "Twice Stroke" 2 lunger German Army bike in the back ground, just to the right of Lee Man's new ride....yes you do see that...! Well, Lee bought that bike for me so I didn't have to tell anybody at home (wifie), it cost 82 hunnies. So, my Bud and team engineer Mark had been doing a weekend resto-fixer-upper on the 4 banger for his kid (kinda OK but not to perfect either) to drive at College. Well as it ends up. I had loaned Mark some Billies, so he figured he would talk Lee into buying the kids 914 because now he can't have a car at College until next year. So Lee says Kevin owes me some Scoot so why don't we wash the deal clean and everybodys happy!!
Well Lee has not really seen the 914 yet, so I thought I would help out by at least, taking a pixie of "ol' whitiey" next to a 917 because maybe your eyes wouldn't "Focus" too much on the 914. Its true, Lee has not seen it yet so he will (at least) have one good memory of what he bought before he gets to judge what he really didn't even pay for....ina weird way of course...no i didn't say concourse!!
Dats da story...and Lee Man is stickin to it!

Herr Meister,
If I was running any Car-Tell I would own Junior's 914-8
KJ
I heard there was only 2 built but only ever saw 1.

Thought that photo of EFR looked familiar, My friend Dave Rasmussen shot that at Ontario Motor Speedway at an SCCA race. Sorry to say neither Dave or OMS are still around, here are a few more. Thanx for the memories Dave...
