What Did You Do to Your 911 Today?

Put the finishing touches on my fuel line and clamp project today. I've been doing a lot of small nagging projects recently.
Replaced the entire cold start system with fresh Oetiker clamps and lines from Matt Blast @ Eurometrix. The system previously had no clamps.. not the safest thing even though its not really under pressure.
I also swapped out the lines at the console and MFI pump. Now, if only I could find some Norma S clamps in yellow zinc....

That is a very cool house. Congratulations! When you (do) build the garage make it tall enough for the lift you'll need in your old age. Bending over sucks.

garage looks almost perfect as is....looks like there is space to the left where you could roll a car over for deep storage or disassembly, plus the standard 2-car setup......raise the roof, add a dormer, etc, so you could have a lift, and you might find a tear-down unnecessary, the money savings can go a long way towards buying tools, lifts and cars.

the garage is smaller than i was looking for, but the house is right on the money, and at 30K below our budget price, we will have some extra and in a year or two will be able to tear down the old garage and put up something a bit bigger. the city already confirmed i can go as big as 30x24. a little bigger would have been nice but still enough room to stuff 3 911/12s into and plenty of room to work with two cars in there.

in the mean time i am so psyched to have a garage big enough to wrench in! no more tearing down parts cars in the middle of winter or working on cars in the scorching summer sun. im just excited to start playing with toys again!!!!!

Apparently the 997 GT3RS 3.8 and the 4.0 may be experiencing harmonics as Porsche has issued a TSB for the air distributor which (parts of) can be ingested and destroy the engine.

well the outcrop to the left is just a lean-to that was added on. that part of the building (especially the far wall) has significant termite damage and pretty much needs rebuilt. the wall between the leanto and the garage is structural and i would have to have a post in there if i knocked it out.

already have an estimate for about 12K for a steel building in the back that i can insulate etc. and would be tall enough for a lift. I would have to do demo to the existing garage except the roof. (the shingles are made out of that pesky material that start with an A, and i have priced out abatement to about $2500 on the high end to about $1700 on the low end)

How much do you think it would run to raise the roof? if i just wanted to do that?

i like the idea of more tools.. already pricing out stuff i want to buy: new tool chest, lighting, new air compressor (so i dont have to borrow dads who will now be 40 mins away)..

never a need for a post in a small space like that, maybe steel or an LVL, but if both ends are properly supported to a footing, you can always find a way to eliminate that structural wall and the post.....maybe not cheap or easy, but still can be a DIY project....termite damage, that's another story.

Still, the look of that old garage is so much cooler than anything you'll get today, and especially when comparing to steel.

if you want to rebuild the lean-to, all the better, enlarge it, make it better and bigger, taller, deeper, you will still be below the cost of a new steel building and can make it exactly what you want

Congrats on the new house and garage Harry. I know you have been looking and waiting a while to find something just right. Looks very nice. Time to spend some time on http://www.garagejournal.com/ for ideas. The idea of raising the roof is an excellent one that you should really look into. Best of luck.
