the numbers dont look too kosher to me or is this how 914 VIN stamping is?

maybe why it only sold for $20K :confused:
Ikes on the VIN. :eek:
the VIN looks OK to me The early cars have quite an array of stamping methods.

here is a comparison;
Does anyone know with certainty whether my 1970 914-6 did or did not come with a Perlon headliner.
The reason I ask is that there is evidence of glue all around the edges inside the top.
I'd love to put it in and reduce some of the cabin noise.
Haasman
it did come with perlon material on top
cmacar- forgive me but I continue to hear both yes/no. May I ask, how do you know/what is your source (with all due respect).
Raj- wow ....75-85k .... where are you seeing these prices, again, with all due respect.

origional factory pictures , 6 cylinder cars came with more goodies, perlon cloth on roof for example, glue was not that good and many fell off. little know fact is the rear sheet metal thickness around engine mount area is thicker then 4 cylinders sheet metal.
Really? Is that confirmable? I thought the final destination (VW vs. Porsche) wasn't necessarily known when the bodies were being fabricated. Or, did Karmann indeed maintain separate manufacturing lines for the -six vs. -four? If so, then that's a great way to tell a genuine from a well-executed fake. Thanks.
