Well yesterday actually…
Home this weekend with a touch of a stomach bug so had a bit of garage time.
As I’ve wrote before, my shroud dyeing technique stays fresh and pretty for a limited amount of time…. About 3-4 years before the heat and cleaning renders the rehab a bit faded and orange.

So, it was time for a little red S shroud rejuvenation…. And a little ‘under the air cleaner clean up’…. and clean and re-oil my K&N air filter.
Of course it’s a snap with the shroud off the car, but not necessary for a quick ‘tune up.’
Here’s some before pics….
As written, this is what I use.....
- Denatured alcohol for cleaning and thinning
- Red Fiebing's leather dye
- Daubers and brushes
- Lots of rags and rubber gloves
A few afters... red and clean again........ :)
Great idea, Chuck.
Reminds me of the 'Just for Men' ads on TV...
The weather is ugly here in our neck of the woods, so I just took the cover off and looked at my car and
had to grin..;)..I bought her a new raised spindles..a Marelli twin plug dizzy ( newer version )..new plug wires..need
another 6-pin CD.. Tomorrow is another day..:o
Saturday I went to the Porsche / Mercedes Dealership in Mpls.
Bought a Ferry Porsche Badge / 75 Jahre
Picked up a few Porsche Calendars for 2013
bought a Porsche tire gauge for the missing one in the glove box.... its not an o.e.m. period piece, but it is Porsche
Today : hung one of the calendars by the 911 , just to keep her company.... counting down the time till spring driving
Well, I did what most guys told me when I got the car.."Just drive it!"
Still a bit warm here, but snow or rain aren't anywhere in the forecast. Just good holiday colors, kinda. I saw a friend who said seeing pictures of my car a few months ago inspired him to dust off his '74 Euro Carrera after years in storage. If only I could convince him that he really wants to sell it ;)

This weekend began the march back to originality. Removed the strut brace, the subwoofer from the smuggler's box, the 6X9s on the rear parcel shelf, and sent the seats off to be rebuilt with new houndstooth and revitalized leather. Also sent off the the door pockets and rear parcel shelf to be redone. Removed one side stripe and added back the original rocker panel with new end caps. Right side next week.
Need to rehab original steering wheel, add decos back, and rear overriders - just can't bring myself to adding back the fronts. Much more to do.
