Now we are 5...Hey guys, this is almost enough to form a "secret society".. ;)
Someone touched on the idea of advertising $$$. There are a couple of pp of business card ads and other ads in the last Esses, but no mention of advertising rates that I can see in the mag...please publish the rates in every edition and invite people to advertise in their club mag. It's a start and a way to maintain some continuing $$$ toward the mag production. We're all lazy(me too ;) )...I can't be bothered emailing to find out the ad. rates - if they were in print in every edition we'd be one step closer to more revenue I think.
I'm not sure how many of us visit the Early 911S Registry website, but it's another forum for advertising $$$. You can control the number and type of ads to a certain extent by setting some rules and publishing those along with the rates - hell we'd advertise on the site and in the mag and we're a long way away...but it's a way to support the Registry in a continuing sense. I'm sure you'd find that most advertisers would pay from year to year (takes a bit of credit control sure) once they took the plunge...
The donations are fantastic guys and if the registry will take a credit card payment Mike and I are in (costs more to get a bloody check drawn in USD than what it would be worth)...but I'd much prefer to be pledging to continuing advertising either in Esses or the website or this very board for that matter so you keep getting our money for a good cause!
Cheers,
Lisa
Thanks Lisa,
The ad rates will be in the next issue of the ESSES...
Putting ads on the web site and especially on the message board is a whole other kettle of fish... more book keeping and not by me... perhaps we can talk about someone stepping up for that one...
I wanted to collect these donations personally to present to the board at the next meeting... However Spyder can contribute directly through Mike Hammond buy CC ... Please tell'm that it's a direct contribution to the club so he'll know...
Cheers love, and thanks for the great idea about the rates ... duh!!!!! :o
BTW- The rates are as follows:
Quote:
Business card - $125.00
1/4 Page - $180
1/2 Page - $340
Full Page - $500
All ads run for one calendar year from first appearance – for four consecutive issues before renewal.
Chuck,
I realised I had put you up for even more work than you already do with my ideas (sent you an email on that one)...it would be great if someone could step up to the task of handling the advertising (not you!)...in these days of technology they wouldn't even have to be "local" (not me - I've got enough on my plate downunder!)...
Still think the idea has some merit though - but that's just me ;) .
Cheers,
Lisa
If you change the name of the club to something else, then that Early 911S Registry badge you already have will be an instant collectors item(RARE).Those who already bought one will be lucky(like you Paul). Now there will be a run on those grill badges, good more revenue, but something to think about. :) :D
I'm happy to put in. Right now, though, I feel like I'm just blindly throwing money. Would it be possible to get a Registry budget?
I think that's a reasonable request...just a simple income/expenditures statement, perhaps posted on a "members only" section. But the bottom line seems to be that without more income there may not be a group to post such a statement. So, if $100 sounds steep to anybody, just send the $35 dues...you'll get the newsletter, and you won't feel like you've been freeloading on this site. Pelican is supported through sales of parts...no such feature here.
Anybody part of the 356 Registry? What's on their "member's only" section?

For those who say they live in BFE, and can not go to events, these cars are meant to be driven, get out and go. I had to go 680 miles each way to go to the 10th Anniversary in Vegas, and it was great. I had to take 5 days of vacation, but it was worth every minute. I joined in 1999 when I lived in Colorado, and Chuck reminded me the dues were $25 then. Now, even at $35, it seems to cheap for such a great site. Let's see, gas in 1999 was about $1.45 per gallon. Times 15 = $21.75. Mount and balance 4 wheels and tires in 1999, $7.50 times 4 = $30.00. Added up, $51.75. Today, the cost of gas $3.15 times 15 = $47.25. Mount and balance 4 wheels and tires, $15.00 times 4 = $60.00. Added up, $107.25. I would say that for the cost to put in 1 tank of gas, and to mount and balance a set of tires, that should be the cost of the club, rounded off, $100. I would also like to see a balance sheet to see what it actually costs to run the club. I also think that the club should have a full time admin person who does all of the mailings, takes care of getting the magazine published, send out renewal notices, etc., etc., and allow the board to do what they should. That is to meet and come up with great events, ideas of getting more cars together for runs and events, and moving the club forward.
I also think the club should include any long hood 911, regardless of T, E, S, L, 911, or RS. There are T's going for more money than many of us paid for our S and all models are a blast to drive. And all of these people, like Rick brought up, can help all of us who own the long hood cars, by allowing us to have a larger group to draw ideas and parts from. The S cars only have alittle more power, that's it. All of the other models can have all of the options an S has. As far as the name goes, makes no difference to me. I have regular 911's, 911S, 911T, 911E, who cares!
My hat is off to Chuck, John, Lee, Michael, Frederick, Fred, and all the others who donate so much of their time to keep the club going. I would hate to have them get burnt out, and then we would all be out in the cold.
I will put in $500 more to the cause. The thought that our club only has $1,000 in the bank before it goes into the red is REAL SCARY
