They should have been available as an option but weren't standard equipment.

Here's a photo of the 1966 model year rear wiper, from the Porsche Archives. It has been colorized for use in my book.
My new book, The 911 and 912, A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity II can now be ordered at www.tpr-inc.com with an expected shipping date of June 15. It is 208 pages and has 893 color images and 124 illustrations. All information has been updated and enhanced with new chapters on engine compartment and brakes/suspension/transmission along with listings of optional equipment for all models from 1965 through 1973.
More info in various places.
Original rear from my 1965 911 #301111. Notice no half circle cut out in rubber.

I have a May 24th built 911 301104. The wipers are parked on the left. Are others close to this VIN also parked on the left? I doesn't appear the motor or linkage hardware have been touched. Any help in clarifying is greatly appreciated.

Should go out tomorrow.
Rear wiper photo also has "catacolor" rear glass with spots! Here's the version that Llew Kinst colorized for me. Note reflections in the bumper guards are still black & white. The cropped photo is on page 38. Jens at the Porsche archives said that he thought the license plate color was wrong -- who knew? He also said it was okay to colorize their photo, so it wouldn't be the only black & white photo with the 892 color ones.
