Paul it is so good to see you posting here.
As for a introduction to this web site Paul has been the source for special early and unique parts to the Early 911 Porsche 232 Registry for the last 30 years. His very original car has been the vehicle we have been checking against to verify which of the early parts were one off's or first iterations.
Thanks Paul,
John
thank you paul for the additional explanation,
thank you bob, for the very comprehensive description of the „early features“, and of course, curious about to see the 898

CAD 1 plating is silver. CAD 2 plating is gold. The cadmium sets up a durable, greasy layer that is superior to zinc. Porsche did use zinc, such as the heater slides. But for accurate torque specifications on fasteners, cadmium is better and in the early cars, it was CAD 1.
I am new to posting photos on this board and I understand you must use a url. I have used my dropbox public folder in hopes that it works? (Let me know?)

Just some detail photos as the car is not just finished... it runs, goes up and down the driveway. I need a driver's side window. All five of mine have scratches... yes, I am been polishing away and am not happy with the results. Snail's work.
"Wipers park on passenger side and should have black slender stalks of 6.5mm with stainless steel, silver Bosch wipers"
Paul, 301111 has silver. Also the bolts holding the F&R lids are painted black along with the clips that hold the wire for the rear license lights.
Do you have an idea when the went to 5 pleats from 6 in the seats.
Thanks,
John
John
BTW, love the photos!

That's really interesting John. What color is your car because I do see sometimes (Air inlet grill) is always black on the early red cars and on the white or yellow ones, it's bright. The wipers being black painted may be particular to early red cars... but no, I just went back into my data-bases (unrestored car images filed by serial numbers in the late 1990's and early 2000's) - I do see both types of wipers, the wider and the thin ones, silver and black. So scratch that as an absolute from my list, but I do believe the thinner stalks are associated with the earlier cars?
And yes, absolutely the bolts are painted black for the front and rear hoods, including the fender hardware, and in interior lip around the front trunk seal. I believe even the fixed shock tower nuts and washers were black. Trying to determine if it was paint or black-oxide?
Regarding the 6 pleats, what does your car have? I know the unique starter/flywheel was around 1600 something. I am not sure when the upholstery change was made - it was definitely a move towards basketweave (cheaper than perforated fabric)
Hi Paul,
My car is Champagne Yellow. The inlet grill is kinda a bright black if the makes sense.
My car has a GT Seat for the driver side and 5 pleats for the passenger side, but not sure if it came that way. Both hounds tooth.
