It was a perfect auction for the seller, a 99 year old gentleman, a 2 person war via an online auction, it went on for an eternity. I am told the buyer loves his purchase, good for him.

The extraordinary 911 2.4 E presented here was built in May 1973, finished in the delightful color scheme of Sepia Brown (code 5454) over Beige leatherette. According to the Certificate of Authenticity, this US-specification car was originally equipped with Fuchs alloy wheels, tinted glass, front and rear stabilizer bars, and the desirable S appearance group.
Originally retailed through Commonwealth Porsche-Audi in Boston, this 911 was sold new to Frank Lanson of Hamden, Connecticut, at a cost of $10,361.50. Over the next decade, Mr. Lanson drove the Porsche about 1,000 miles per year and kept meticulous records of every journey, service, and parts purchase. In August 1984, after he agreed to sell the car to Jon Barnum of Longmont, Colorado, Mr. Lanson even took the time to record the car’s fuel consumption (about 24 mpg) on his trip to deliver the 911 to its new owner.
Mr. Barnum was an equally fastidious caretaker. As an active PCA member, he preserved the low-mileage 911 E in superb original order. He retained the car in his collection until 2013, when it was sold, via Porsche expert and preservation specialist Dirk Layer, to the current owner.
Today, the 911 remains in pristine unrestored condition, and benefits from recent servicing by marque specialists Richard Humphries and Taylor Shannon. Detailed to concours-quality standards and displaying just 22,180 miles when catalogued, this Porsche is poised for success in judged preservation-class competition. The consignor and Mr. Layer report that the 911 retains its factory paint and interior finishes and runs and drives like a new car. Remarkably, the Porsche still retains its dealer-installed Blaupunkt radio and unused Dunlop SP spare tire, as well as its original purchase paperwork, window sticker, and service records dating to 1973. Additionally, the sale includes the owner’s manual, maintenance booklet, supplemental literature, jack, tool kit, and Certificate of Authenticity.
Truly a benchmark example of the legendary 911 and a spectacular time capsule from a bygone era, this 2.4 E is distinguished from its brethren by a fascinating history, wonderful period color combination, rare documentation, and exceptionally low mileage. The next caretakers will have in their possession an unrestored Porsche of the highest order.
Said to be 22,000 original miles. Only photograph doesn't help in the assessment, but can we assume no sport seats? Being touted as a Preservation Class car, but the front bumperettes are missing if anyone cares. The auction estimate seems very high, but time will tell.
