As this board is the in my opinion one of the greatest assets of the club, I vote that we make the Classifieds a members only section to encourage more members and less lurkers.

Maybe you mean to say that posting an ad be limited (?) That will reduce buyers b/c some are also interested in selling - I have no objection tho.
This is true, dont want to shoot ouurselves in the foot i guess.
Well, I have been reading this thread and after some soul searching I sent in my application.
Why did I delay? Several reasons: I do not own an "S" or "special" 911 (just a lowly, mostly stock "T"); In many ways I feel like an "outsider" who has been invited to the party but not particularly welcome to partake in the entire banquet; It appears that the face-to-face activities are quite a distance from me; and (like it or not) The BBS is free for all.
Why did I change my mind: It's good Karma to give more than you get; the cost is not outrageous; and (in spite of my objections above) you seem like an ok group.
How can we improve? Make our public face more inclusive for early (i.e. long hood) 911's. Seek to have activities in more places where the local members desire such things.
As far as a financial statement goes… also a fair question
As some of our older members know, up to 2 1/2 years ago, Fred Stewart, our own Legal / Financial Advisor and ex-LA County Assistant District Attorney, used to publish a Registry financial statement yearly in the EASES. Because of medical and family issues Fred is no longer an active member of our board… However, Fred used to glean the information for the statement from the same simple resources that we compile for the board every month… namely the running tally that Mike Hammond keeps for the club merchandise … and the running balance that gets deposited in the Registry's bank account mostly for memberships…. Then, of course, the quarterly expenditures on the news letter… and restocking merchandise.
I guess what I'm saying is the numbers are there, in fact there on our agenda every meeting… They come in from Mike, Fred T. and John D. religiously every month … That's how we know how we're doing…
But not in a publishable format… I'm not comfortable posting what we have on the site or message board … and by the time they come out in the quarterly ESSES the info is a little stale… as Fred's were
As far as a formal published statement that's pretty timely? That might take awhile before that happens …
I will bring it up at the next meeting… again another thing for one of only 4 to take care of…. :o
Cheers,

Harry, that's already beginning to happen. Things have been changing VERY rapidly in the early 911 world over the past year or 2. With $25,000 and $30,000 sale prices on T's and E's, they have begun to earn the respect they deserve. Soon, the early 911 world will be similar to the 356 world - one in which all early 911's are considered very special cars.
An annual budget would do the trick. As a Registry member (and former PTSA treasurer!), I'd be glad to help!Quote:

Randy, you mean like the tax credit I got for my donation to the Kelley Wirth for State Rep. campaign? Seriously, I never thought that club memberships qualified for any kind of a tax break, whether or not non profit...but I'm not a CPA. (To be fair to all the board...inside joke about Kelley Wirth...she's a State Rep. up here who just got busted for meth possession.)
