I agree, keep the original spare...don't use it.
You could go one step further and have Harvey Weidman make you a 7R
replica wheel that you could actually use on the car if you had a flat tire.
No fitment issues...ever & you only need to rely on yourself to get back on the road.

Donald,
I see you are hell-bent on being self sufficient with Hester so you should pick up an AL 944 jack like this.;) :D

Along with a jack pad so you won't kill yourself and drop Hester with the original factory jack.:)

if you are not a concours person then just sell that "valuable" bu unusable tire to someone who is
you may want to rent a storage shed for car parts away from house & wife -- where does your firm store old case files & docs? some greasy old car parts will help fulfill you ethical responsibilities by keeping away thieves...

What are the tire valves you guys use for your 7R wheels?

Mike,
If you do a search for "valve stems" there is a ton of info on the subject, but this thread seems the most comprehensive.

Thanks very much for pointing me to that thread.
Andy in the UK gave me the same info TR 415 for 7R's and I wanted to confirm that. Not that I didn't believe Andy (he knows a lot more than me) but my curious mind could not work out how the valve stem latched onto the outside of the wheel being such a thick wheel. Now, your answer in the above thread answers this question...........the valve stem is so thick it just kinda holds on in there with side grip only.
Not that I don't believe you either but doesn't that sound like ' It's not right but it will do' sorta thing?
Is there not a racing valve or metal screw in valve that will do a much better job considering the thickness of that 7R wheel. Do the racing boys of this world just rely on a bit of valve stem grip?
Regards
Mike

Besides friction, you would also have the air pressure differential working for you.
I dont know if you can get a bolt together Schrader valve that would be deep enough and I dont recall if the how the rim is formed around the hole, but to use a bolt-in valve, everything must be square to each other.
If you cant find the TR's, let me know and I will pick some up for you.
