Another hot rod

Based on the 912 prefix on the part number, I think the rod bearings we need are for the Ti rods as originally used in Type 917. I know there are still some of these out there...

I appreciate any help you could provide in tracking down a set of the bearings.

You will recall that the shop was stripping the pan and floors by hand.

Next they straightened out the usual dents from wayward jacks and off course excursions.

Here you see the result in factory style green metal etching primer.

They did a nice job of getting it fresh looking without putting too much time into the job. Next is to put on some color.

Can I ask what are you planning on using for the filter in the mag 'grenade' filter housing, originals NLA.

I bought one nos on the 'bay a couple of years ago. After that, I have no idea. Perhaps someone can repro them? What are you using now?

Thanks Stu, I assume you are referring to the roll bar foot plates (correct me please if you meant the grenade filter).

OliveR and John:

That will be a better solution for the factory style foot plates. Dave can gear up and get a bunch of them made all at once.

We had just a couple of sets made for the roll bars on hand.

The factory solution of casting them in steel makes alot of sense to me as there is alot of bending, cutting and grinding by hand to get the contours correct.

Have a man looking into fabricating some from an original as we speak, will let you know how it goes!

No - not the plates... Dave is building the grenade filter assembly. I had the raw castings in my hand last week.

They were sent out to be fabricated by hand by a professional fabricator. I have not seen the bill yet...

The operative word in that sentence is "reconstructed."

When I read this statement in the Competition Spare Parts List, it did not really make an impression on me.

However, I now realize that the author meant this quite literally. It seems that nearly every part needs to be touched, modified, replaced or fabricated.
