Jack, beautiful 912. I love the old single stage non metallic colors, and slate grey is one of the best.

I've been lurking too for a while. Here's a pic of my 68 912. Mostly original, except for the wheels and the nardi steering wheel. I do have the chrome original wheels too.
Cheers,
JakeO
Good to see another 912 come out of hiding:) Looks like a nice one.

Nice car Jake!
Is the color red or tangerine? Either way, it's a beautiful car
Maybe the 912s should get a special section of the web site to discuss issues specific to that car.
Well, this is technically the 911 "S" registry and we talk about other 911's besides the S all the time......and the 912 is basically a 911 with a few differences....Quote:

Thanks, The plate says polo red. It's been resprayed at some point in its life. The color is very close to the original paint visible on the inner rear fender valance. It looks a lot like orange in bright sunlight, but will look redder in less sunlight.Quote:

This is my first 911 'hot rod' I built it in 1990 sold it in 1994. Started as a rust free 73.5 T. I rebuilt a Euro 3.2 and 915 with a limited slip, did the whole suspension thing, alloy S brakes, torsion bars, drilled rotors etc, etc. bare body paint, front oil cooler, trick @ the time seats etc. I saw the car around 1'st couple of years then gone for 12 years. Friday I see the guy I sold it to and he still had the car. It has been garaged and he had not driven it in YEARS, and he wanted it gone "more so his wife wanted it gone". I ask what he wanted for it we make a deal based on inspection. Car is now in my shop again The kicker is after I built the car I drove it for pleasure and DE events put on aprox 5K miles. Before I sold it I replaced the broken odometer with a new 'zero' miles. It now reads 1,335! It is not to far from the condition I sold it in, one or two dings and a few dog claw scratches. I have absolutely no use for it but hey you only have one first one.

Just thought i would add a pic of my Bahama Yellow 68 912.
I have owned her a couple of years now - still with the original engine and solexs. The interior is still good with a woodrim wheel and still retaining the 68 door pockets

Been here a while, but finally got the resize bit down. My '72 after a 2 year redo. The interior is now finished.
Wow your car looks just like my '68, except mine is a 911 and it has the steering wheel on the correct side!!Quote:

Jasam, PM sent
Thanks raj.
Im happy with the look now. Im about to put my road tires back on (much taller profile). These are 50 series track tires and look a bit too modern for my liking.
Wicked nice Matt!
EDIT: Matt can you give us the diameter of the pipes on the muffler?
Thanks Bob, The pipes are 2.5 inch.
Didn't see any Gemini Blue... This was a restoration I did a few years back -- before and after.
Matt we need the history of your car, it is so nice. Should open a thread in order to show us that nice wicked piece of metal

Hi Matt, those wide steelies look great! Very 904/906. Would you share some details? size, fit issues, who made them, any fender mods. Again, great look:)
Hester, Hunter - Both of your cars are stunning. Beautiful cars. Great pix.

(aka Dwayne)
yes Matt, please do tell on the steelies.
Steelies are date stamped 69'. The rears are 7s & similar to 7R' offset. fronts are 6in. I normally use 195/65 n the front & 215/60 on the rear. I know 225s will fit on the back without rolling the fenders. They were widened using generic outers & have been powdercoated aluminium silver.

I know it's not an early 911S, but my 1972 911S is taking what seems like forever to be restored.
In the meantime, I convinced my mechanic to let me have this car as a way to get into the 911 culture - 1977 Carrera 3.0. It's a blast.
The third picture is the injection pump of the 72S, first part that looks ready to go. I'll start a thread with pics when I have something more =)

Here some photos of a great looking 2.2S a good friend just added to his collection. The car is pretty low miles at 78K and has some nice options like Factory air, sunroof and power windows. Enjoy!

That is a nice one. Am I right in assuming the that S spoiler is factory on that car and that it is a late production '71? The rest of the car looks great. Nice options too.
I guess it is this one:
http://www.2-shores-classics.com/ind..._id=69&lang=us
I wonder if it was sold at this price to the USA or does it stay in Europe?
The only thing wrong that I noticed is the plastic steering wheel, otherwise a very nice combo.
Hi Andrew,
This is a '70 Coupe. A previous owner did an 'upgrade' with a correct steel, Factory spoiler. The current owner has the original valence too.
Yeah kind of weird to pull off the original leather wheel and put on a plastic one but that and the front spoiler are the very few inconsistancies with this one.:)
Sorry,,, forgot the roofrack.
Best, Robert and Finlahy.
Great car. Is that Albert Blue?
Wow!!!! Great looking 911 Robert.
What are the tire sizes?? I really like the sidewall height/profile.
Thanks,
Yes sir, Albert Blue and tire's are 195/65 and 215/60 on 7 and 8"
Thankyou kindly,,, Robert and Finlahy
Robert, very well done... a beautiful "balanced" looking car, just enough tweaks to give it a more muscled stance and look, color is just great as well. Nicely thought out!
Eric
BTW I found some OE door panels to match those tan sport seats....still looking for more pieces of that color interior.
Brian, did that S go to Wisconsin? :)
I tried to bring it here to IN but the market for kidneys isn't what it once was. ;)Quote:

John, here's an interior shot. It looks kind of silly with the 5-point harnesses and stock seats, but my GTS Nurburgring seats, which shipped from Texas yesterday, will tie it all together.

I'll think about starting a thread...it'd be a long one. I posted threads of the major milestones (getting the car for $6000, finding the hole in the #5 piston, putting the new engine in...etc) over on Pelican.
Awesome Ill hope you post the history in here... Awesome car... Thatīs pretty much my style but in Bahia Red. Cool car, the engine is > 69 S engine right?
Very nice Rich, you done good! :)
rich,
wow that look amazing.
cheers
Also compliments on the 66. I like the deco free exterior look. Curious to know why the engine bay metal where the stickers go is black instead of white? What was the car's original color? I also love the MSD CD Box. I had one in my 67 911 S spec motor and it made a huge difference. The head design on the early 2.0 motors was pretty bad. After dropping the msd in my car, no more fouled plugs - ever again!
gruen911, Light Ivory is the origianal color. The PO painted the rear panel black, and the front one too. At least they carefully masked off the decals. I think it looks okay. Here's the front, and yes, the tank should be black, but I like the gray gas tank look.Quote:

Nice looking interior. Looks like a period picture.
I absolutely LOVE that wheel. Moto-lita?
And the dash trim is clean ... purposeful and clean.
BIG THUMBS UP!! :D :D
I also just noticed the speedo. It looks like you have a second needle in there. Is that the case or are your photos playing tricks on me? ;)
Gorgeous!!!!
Hi folks!!!!
I'm livio, an italian howner of pre-bumpers.
My 911 is a 2.4E targa My73, bought one month ago... it's fantastic!!!
Bye!!!!;)
Thanks for your compliments.
The color is 1989 POR21A called Porsche Racing Green. Not period, but looks great on an early 911. There are not 2 needles in the speedo, guess that's a reflection of the sunlight :)
And the wheel is made by lecarra, so it's a fake motolita. I forgot the name of the guy who made the hub (sells them on us-ebay).
For more pictures visit my website http://members.home.nl/project911 altough it's not really up to date at the moment (no pictures of the finished car).
I hope the original american owner (Kansas) visits this site also. It would be great to get some history about the car.
Nice work. Very cool website too.
hey Project 911 ,what a cool SWB 911, I almost bought this car last year in
a trade with the gentleman in Kansas,or Missouri ..
Just didn't quite work out at the time, his name is larry brouder i beleive and
he did the lions share of body and paint work on bringing the car back.
Excellent work if I can mention, real attention to detail..I'm certain he would welcome your contact and relish the fine detailed completion you've
executed,car is phenominal!
his contact info is as follows lmbrouder@msn.com ,feel free to mention I've
forwarded his info, and please send him some pics WOW ! thanks Bert
Hi Bert, thanks for your reaction. But it can not be my car. It was bought by an englishman in 2003 or 2004 on us-ebay. He sold it again to an belgium person in 2004, from which I bought the car. I have to look for the american title, maybe there is still a name to find on.
Hey, we can't always be correct ...particularly by a one or two pic assumption
!!
Clearly if you've owned it more than a year they're not the same vehicles but
boy you have a sister 911 normal/ t running around somewhere.
the car I'm speaking of had new floors, rockers inner/outer maybe rear seat pan as well ..probably half front pan two. It was sold to a dealer in the midwest kansas city or st louis missouri about one year or more ago .
Paint and body flawless, forest green or darker ,then it went to europe via
ebay ...so who knows maybe you'll run into it yet.
I couldn't get your website to load and have'nt emailed my friend..just for
kicks i may see what his vin was ..can't find my other info but likely the reason I lost interest it wasn't an L as we initially presumed.
Nun the less your car is fantastic be very proud! Bert
thanks again for the compliments :) Bert.
Today I found some correspondense about the car of the former owner and the seller. The car was owned once by a man named Steven Sager (title) and it was sold to a guy in the UK by Geoff Wittaker. (which many people are unhappy with after doing business with him, I found out after a search on Early911s and pelican.
It would really be great to find the last owner in the USA or even previous owners.
PS, sorry the website is offline at the moment. Don't know what happened with it
A good friend of mine asked me to shoot his Leaf Green w/ sunroof 72T. It's a real beauty!
Just mounted my newly refinished 6's and went for a nice drive. Thank you Harvey for another great looking set of wheels.
This one has been under my roof for about 3 mo. now, and time to get it posted. It got a great workout at this years Hill Country Rally. It is a '69 E and is a very solid car that has been in the hands of enthusiasts for at least the last 25-30 years, and it shows. This one is a prototype keeper. Some updates are planned before our trip to La Ditch and beyond.
Looking good Michael!
Excellent find Bob - I like that steering wheel!
To continue the 68L posts and ignoring the "your" ride heading, here is a 68L that does it for me in every way. I recently had the pleasure of seeing this car in person and was absolutely blown away.
EDIT: Permission granted by owner to post pics.
Wow!!!!!!!!:d
Kick ASS car
Do you have more photos Bob?
Boba, sweet E! Something tells me you got a smokin' deal on that puppy. Can't wait to see it on the tour. Also looks like you got one of those replica R steering wheels. I debated on getting one of those...
Bob T, that 68L is friggin' awesome. Is that the one that Don A. recently sold? It has the absolute right look...
wood.
:D :D

Plus when you see a car like this it's difficult to stay focused and concentrate. I snapped what I could and although I took A LOT of shots there were more I wish I would have taken.
Also, Ahearns other 68L was there along with the yellow Prototype R so it was SWB heaven.
On another note, I generally like cars with hood, fender mounted, and TTG lights but this car can easily convince you that less is more...or pure. ;)
Overall, this is one of the ultimate SWB cars out there.
Damn, that car is nice!!! Out of interest Bob, do you have any pics of the rear tow hook?
BTW, you take good pics.
PS.. did you follow-up on the muffler? (PM)
Of course I have a pic of the tow hook - one of those cool details about this car. BTW, Andy Boyle was kind enough to send me one soon after seeing this car.
Those tires are Blue Streak 'Sports Car Specials'. They're available from Coker, etc. They look great, but the problem is they are bias-ply .... probably not real practical for the road!
I have to say that's the best looking Le Carra I've ever seen, especially with that horn button.Quote:

The coupe will be for sale soon, I need to finish little things like putting the steering wheel in the upright position, wheel alligment etc.

The early 911 is a '70t, just recently purchased, will slowly take her apart this summer, as I am planning to return it to original color of Irish Green, with ST front and rear flares. Motor is not original, and may put it up for sale later in the year as I plan to have a real nice engine built by one of the known builders.

I think most of you have seen my lightweight 69, but I don't think that I have posted any photos of my first car. I got her 2-1/2 years ago from the third owner (he had it for 23 years) from Three Rivers, CA. He bought it from a high school friend who owned it while in high school in the early/mid 70's (he had it 10 years). It spent most of its time in SoCal until just recently I have spoken with both owners about the car's history, which has been really nice to determine its originality and condition. It had one repaint back in the late 70's and it still wears that paint. It had an engine rebuild at 100k miles with E "parts." I inquired about that and he said he did it just because he heard that was when you overhaul 911 engines. OhhhKaaay... Hhmmm, I'll spend 10 grand (or whatever it cost back then) just because.
Anyway, here she is in all her patina'd glory - 185k miles, but in fantastic original shape and mechanically really good since I have gone through a lot of things in the past couple years. Sorry for the bad interior pic and the wires hanging - I was doing some radio work. I also have the original wheel out for recovering.

Hello all,
My name is Craig from Australia;
I think I have managed to attach a picture of my 2 cars. This is my first time doing so, so I hope I have done it right!
the car in the background is my 912 1969. It's been in australia for 17years and I was the first to register it here. It was originally a californian car. I have the original import papers to australia. It is numbers matching and original bar the seats and the colour which was originally bahama yellow.
The car in the front is my 65 911. Imported into australia in v late 65 to Hamiltons Australia for a client in Sydney. It is a factory RHD car with Factory sunroof, power antenna, tint. The interior is largely original, has 67 seats now. Some-one put fuschs in it and hand flared the rear guards and put on an s bumper. I am looking at bringing it back to original specs externally. It was also originally Lt Ivory. Alot of work to do but it's all there and it will look lovely whenI have finished. Has all the original soundproofing on all the metalwork still. It's an interesting piece of the early porsche history puzzle. Its vin is 302658. I am currently looking for the original gearbox (engine is original - 902912) which is no 224328-901/0 according to the kardex card. I have found one 221number which is close. The no is listed on the card as a 901/0 but the number appears in all books I have as either not there or more a 902/1 number. If anyone can confirm what type of box this no. really is I would really appreciate it or has any info for me? The car is australian delivered so it is unlikely that the gearbox went OS but you never know!
Thanks All,
I look fwd to chattign with you all,

Welcome Craig. There is a few of us Aussies on board. Nice couple of cars you have. The 65' is worthy of a body restore. You will be amazed at the knowledge and assistance this forum has to offer. For the same reason dont forget to join TYP901.org in Australia.
Enjoy
Thanks Matt,
I will be joining the typ 901 club soon. I have a great interest in the old cars. I agree there is so much information to share together. I look forward to it.

Nice pair Craig!
Hello from an ex. Adelaide boy.
I wondered who had bought that early car ;)
Cheers, Cam
Cheers Cam,
Do you know any history of the car recently (The 911)? I only bought it about 6 months ago and am putting its history together. Since it's beginning history on the kardex card and now I don't know much of the car's history. Have you seen it around before?
thanks for your help.
craig
Craig,
Nice to see another very early Aus 911 being rescued !
There were very few early 911s ordered here with a sunroof.
Any idea who was the first owner in Sydney ?
Good luck with your two projects and don't be backward in asking questions ! ;)
Cheers,
Dennis. :)
Thanks Dennis, Nice to be in contact with you.
I am getting someone german to decifer the kardex card in some detail at the moment but it appears to read that the car was delivered to australia to a Mrs Maria Kemp of Sydney. Parts of the card are hand written and some typed with a typewriter and some parts stamped. I am still getting to the bottom of the details on it.
It is interesting finding out its origins

Also - Dennis - Can I join the 901 registry over the internet and pay over the internet also? I haven't been able to work out how to do it on the website.

Sorry I can't help with the recent history. Maybe one of the others on TYP 901 might be able to help though.
In relation to joining I think you have to mail the form in but you can pay via Paypal by clicking on the Paypal symbol on the home page, or click on the membership link on the home page.
I don't think I've posted a picture yet. This is my 1973 S Targa. My father bought it new, and I bought it from him a couple of years ago. It has about 43,000 miles on it. It's almost all original, except for a few trim things (hood badge and targa top vinyl) and some maintenance (bare metal respray, new muffler, tires, etc). It still has the original tool kit, spare tire, brake pads, clutch, etc. I've got documentation going back to the original window sticker. It still runs like new!
This was a long exposure, and I walked through the frame with a flashlight to create the light trail. It took quite a while to get a light trail I liked.

Funny Karl. I was just sitting here taking in the photo and the car...reading about the technique...looking back at the great saturation despite the long exposure...nice white balance...figuring how I would duplicate the trail in Photoshop...looking at the front to side ratio...centered compostion...trying to figure out the lens...height position of camera...wanting to rubber stamp the rectangle in the foreground...then I scrolled down to read your comment.
VERY NICE PHOTO OF A VERY NICE CAR!!! WELL DONE!
yes indeedy, Bob. quite the photo. nice little garage too.
what's that little cinquecento-ish car in the back right corner in blue/aqua?
looks like a rat rod beetle to me.
Nice car!
Wow, great shot, even better car:cool: :)Quote:

I am under the gun to get her track worthy, so even though I have bumper and side deco trim, I won't put all that on the car until next month (after the track day). It's currently sporting Yoko 048 (extremely sticky tires) on Superlite 7+8 wheels - I like how they fill the fenders in the rear - front needs to be lowered again after the weight loss...
Greg.
no trim, no trim!!!! you are good to go already!!!
Greg, I just found your thread on Pelican last night. Great read, (here it is for those curious) and really nice job. I love the superlites and they look great.Quote:

The exposure was about 15 seconds, and I used an LED flashlight for the bluish glow. The camera was mounted on a tripod as low as it would go - probably about 18 inches or so. I adjusted the levels a bit in Lightroom, but otherwise it's untouched (I didn't modify anything in Photoshop). It took about 50 attempts to get a light trail I liked.Quote:

I took these pics of the beautiful ST' re-creation here in Australia. from a TYP901 outing yesterday. This car is outstanding!!!
Here is my RS. I have owned it for 20 years. It was an original UK RHD car now fully restored and as original as possible.

the last rally i entered in my RS replica did not, shall we say, end well...
however, it is now being rebuilt in lightweight 911ST spec - based on one of the SAMSON cars (the body was already dark blue). here is some dirty pics after a 10 hour trailer ride back from the body shop.
Hi Paul,
Great looking Carrera! Looks to be a very good restoration of your RHD Touring. I must say that White w/ Viper Green is one of my very favorite color schemes. Enjoy.:)
I thought "1960s Batman villain camera angle" but I guess that dates me. Nice pic.Quote:

Nice looking car, love that color.
Was this one for sale in the Laurel Canyon area of LA not too long ago?
Yes, I bought it from a man in Laurel Canyon last fall. A few years before, it was owned by a man from Temecula. He bought it from someone in Riverside, who did the 3.0 conversion. The conversion was probably in the mid 90s. The trail gets cold when I try to go back further.Quote:

I believe that the engine may have been changed after an engine fire, though it can't have been bad, because the engine bay still has most of its original finish.
Strange - if you're having trouble, you can try going straight here:Quote:

Here's an updated shot with Lindsey 17's. This was taken on the new NJMP "Thunderbolt" circuit last week.

Nice T Zedone. What color is that? Is it a non-metallic? I'm looking for a nice, non-metallic bue to respray my 69 T in.
oh now that's just nice zedone!
There are more photos of Elsa in the thread:
Draggin a rig (kinda)
The color is a Mercedes Blau DM903 circa 1971, common to the Mercedes pagodas of that era. I recently had my local paint supply prepare me touch up cans in the same shade from their Pittsburgh paint books. Perfect match so Im confident you can reproduce this shade of blue. Yes, Im in love.
Zedone,
Thanks for the color info. Love it, very 70s and Teutonic looking too.
Here is a recent "artsy" pic.

Zedone...sweet car. Where abouts on lake erie was that shot taken?
Grosse Ille, at the entrance of Lake Erie at its juncture with the lower Detroit River. Celeron Island in the background.
Ah cool...I'm at the other end.
Just to make sure, that's a solid rather than metallic, correct? I like it a lot, sort of close to the color of Chris Nielsen's (sp?) ST.Quote:

Here is my Porsche , it is so much fun driving it around tiny mountain roads.
zweistein,
Your car looks like fun. It is also quite low :D :D :D
What size tires are those?
Hi Andrew,
yes my car is lowered a bit (5cm). Currently I use 195/65/15 but it is difficult to get good sport tyres for that size. 2 Weeks ago I changed to 205/55/16 on 16" Fuchs wheels ,which I had refurberished to the early 911 style , and I use now Michelin Pilot sport cup semi slicks. Fotos will follow as I would like to get an oppinion from this board.
Suspension is little changed, stiffening a targa wouldn't work well anyway. In my view best I could do was Elephantracing bushings, front stock torsion and 19mm sway bar, rear 24mm torsion and 18mm sway bar.
To make sure the car deserves the Porsche name and climbs nicely uphill the engine is original block but converted to 2.7 RS inside.

This 70S will be very nice in a few years. Not running at the moment. Will start a thread to try to sort it out. Matching numbers and original slate gray under sloppy silver paint job.
Greeting!
Radmund, Norway
Thanks Raj.
The car will go back to slate as soon as funds allow it. Hope it will be finished within two years. And yes, John is a really great guy. Without him I think I would have given up long time ago. He also helped me checking out this car and gave me the push I needed to bring it home from Japan.
