Hey Daron, that shot of your yellow car looks like it maybe on the Parkway somewhere. We should get a few of us NC guys together sometime.

I keep noticing some headlights with a very wide chrome metal surrounding the headlights. Some have a very small chrome surround. What is difference between these light surround? Are they specific to models T, E or S? Are they specific to years? Whats the story on them?
Max,
The last two posts by Darren have the wider chrome rim for the US spec cars. This design started in 68 and continued with the same theme thru '86. The narrower rims came in three styles: on Jims '65 were the type on the <68 cars and are simillar to the VW and 356 unit. The types on Andys are H1s although both the H1 and H4 are common upgrades to early cars(H1 68-72, H4 72-??); These were Euro spec lights as the US required sealed beams.
These could be found on any model though and all interchangeable.
Cheers,
I am excited to be getting back into the Early S world again. My wife and I are going to try to clean up the car as best as we can and with some help put it back together. At least the tags are current, the aluminum decklid is painted, and the cool recaros or scheels are ready! One more semester of grad school and then i'll really have the time.

That car brings back some memories
Yeah guys, I think about ol Sam every now and then. What a tragedy. I thank him and Tom for all the hard work and $$$ that went into Orangello. All I had to do was tweak the suspension and then drive the hell out of it. It is one quick 911.

My First Porsche. 73.5T driver with 215,000 miles. Bought on my wife's birthday 5 years ago. 1 repaint, reasonably straight. PO painted bumpers black. My goal for the car? 500,000 miles. Slow painful restoration planned once the kids are out of daycare. Gathering parts and enjoying until then.
Nice car, just bought one but in bahia red, 73.5 too.
I just found this photo of my car recently. It's just a snapshot when I was cleaning the car last summer. Silver is VERY difficult to photograph and show any depth. For whatever reason, the lighting was just right here (btw: the car will have a whole new look in about 2 months!).
