Auction Description:
- An early example of the desirable short-wheelbase Porsche 911
- Long-term family ownership from new until 2018
- Engine rebuilt in 2019 to 2.2-litre specification
Chassis 300751 is one such example. One of the first 1,000 Porsche 911s built, it rolled off the Stuttgart production line in 1965 and by 27 September of that year had been registered for the road in Sweden. A selection of period photographs on file document the car taking part in an event at the Nürburgring.
The Porsche is believed to have remained with its first owner until his death in 2014, at which point it was inherited by his son. He kept the car for a further four years before selling it to the consignor via Premium Cars of Värmdö, Sweden.
In 2019, the car was taken to Hartman + Köster in Bielefeld, Germany which was charged with investigating an oil leak. As a result, from May to September of that year, the 911’s unnumbered factory replacement engine was subject to a full rebuild with an upgrade to 2.2-litre specification and installation of a new clutch. Prior to this work being carried out, the consigning owner states that the car was re-sprayed and that its original factory interior was reinstalled.
Smartly presented and with uprated performance, this early 911 would make an excellent addition to the garage of any Porsche enthusiast and is sure to draw endless attention wherever it is driven.

This 'sold for price' seems a bit high for this example . . .

Auction Description:
This USA-spec 1968 base Porsche 911 was delivered to the current owner at the Zuffenhausen factory in West Germany on February 26, 1968. It was mostly driven in Europe the first two years and was stored in the U.S. for about 15 years. It was restored in 2004-05 and has since been driven less than 500 miles. Most of the maintenance and all restoration was performed by the owner. It was professionally painted, with all 13 parts painted separately. This sale includes the original match-numbered 1990cc engine and the original Weber carburetors, the final year before fuel injection. The car is equipped with the original 5-speed transmission. The car comes with five original steel wheels (four without tires, one with serviceable tire as spare) and additionally the four original mounted Fuchs wheels - factory purchased one year later in 1969 - with serviceable late-period tires. It also comes with the original cigarette lighter, a manual jack and tool kit. According to the owner, it needs new torsion bars all around, though the rear torsion tunnels were cleaned, inspected and treated for minor rust. The front torsion has not been serviced. Also included with the sale are the Official Porsche Production Specifications for car #11835161, pertaining to the completion date of February 21, 1968. Optional equipment includes leatherette headrest, bumper horns, all-tint glass, Becker Europa AM/FM radio and speaker, and antenna. The car has never been raced. This Porsche also comes with a unique story: The owner built and donated a large-scale model of the nuclear aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVAN/CVN-65) to the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C. It has been exhibited there since 1982 and seen by millions, with an HO-scale model of this very Porsche hidden in different places on the aircraft carrier model over the decades for children and adults to find. While currently closed, the exhibit will resume display after the museum building renovation is complete in two to three years. The model of this very Porsche is currently stored with the model ship as a registered official Smithsonian artifact.
