Porsches to Oxford - July 29-31 Come see 400+ Porsches & Swap meet!
July 29-31 is the date for the annual Porsche's to Oxford event benefiting the American Cancer Society. Held in the city center of Oxford Ohio, a cozy little college town, P2O has become one of the largest Porsche events in the country, regularly drawing more than 400 cars. Spend the day hanging out with fellow Porsche owners while enjoying the convenience of several Bistros, coffee shops and ice-cream parlors within yards of your parking spot.
Like last year, there will be a swap meet for used parts. There is no charge for used parts venders, so pack up the truck with unwanted items and bring them out to sell. Few swap meets will have as large an audience as you will find at P2O! If you would like to reserve a swap space, please contact me at "Cornpanzer (at) Sbcglobal.net"
Hope to see you there!

P2O bricks and cowboy hats
This is Ron Thomas; I am the chairman of P2O. Bill sorry you did not win a brick at P2O.I can tell you this event is a TON of work. Last year in my first year I added the Taj Ma Garaj Tour, The Rally in the park friday night and vendors around the park. I have thought about the voting system a lot over these two years. You are not the only one that has mentioned that they got upset about not winning a brick. Unless your Boxster has special wheels or an odd color you wont get a brick. 924's, 968's, 944's, 928's, kit cars. Cayman's, Cayenne's don't usually win either. There was at least one long hood that won this year, we will post the results soon at www.p2o.us Last year my long hood would have won a brick but I gave it to another contestant, I exclude my self from the results. As far as what usually wins are early cars including 356's and cars with unusual features win bricks. I can tell you my $205,000 2011 Speedster got a lot less votes than my 1956 Speedster which I bought for $35,000 so spending a lot of money on a car is not the answer either. With around 450 cars and 50 bricks we send home 400 people with out bricks.Only 10% of the cars/people win. With the sponsor bricks I have to pick up 75 of them, glue the plaques on and carry them to the show. If I could get more help we could increase that to 100 bricks but I do need help with that. I have thought about adding classes so everyone has a chance to win even if you drive a Boxster, Cayenne, Cayman or 924,944,928 etc. Not that there is anything wrong with those cars, i own some of them also. Prior to being chairman they use to count the 4500 votes by hand, Last year I had a software guy make a system so my fiancee could simply enter the 4500 votes (450 ballots x 10 votes each) cars in a computer and it spits out the results. That system took it from 5 people to one person but still takes over 3 hours to do. We could do it by class but that would really make figuring out the results even more time consuming, if again we could get some help that would be great. I still feel that peoples choice is better than a judged show for this event. As an owner of 7 long hoods believe me I love those early cars. My suggestion is that you get as many long hoods as you can to come next year and vote for each other, that way you may go home with a brick. Please keep in mind that this show is billed as a casual Porsche Party and we want it to be a fun event to raise money for cancer. Please feel good about your attendance at the show, you helped raise over $11,000 for the American Cancer Society. I can tell you I have already started planing for next year. If you would like to help out that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Ron Thomas
PS; Dave is wrong about a $5 trophy the bricks are $.60 each but the plaque that gets glued on them cost about $9 so a total of ten bucks
PSS; At least I did something right, I hired the Brunette with the cowboy hat to sell 50/50 tickets:)
