Should be in the garage tomorrow. A stalled, mild restomod project. 1964 Chevrolet C-10 short bed step side. Should be a great cruiser when completed.

Well there'ya go Arne ..... Looks like a cool project
I think so, Chuck. The hard lifting is already done. No rust, all new metal where needed, and a pretty nice paint job. Tastefully lowered (about 2"F and 3"R), disc brakes up front and a 305 small block with A-833 3 + OD manual from an 81 pickup. Needs a few final bits and a lot of reassembly.
Won't be killer fast, but it will sound good and cruise nicely. Will fit in with the local Classic Car Cruises better than either of my early '70s Porsches did.
And an entire different group giving the thumb's up.... :)Quote:

AND in these cars you're going slow enough to see their thumbs.... :D
Picking away at stuff. It runs again now, after an intake manifold gasket replacement, and now has brakes, too.

And after a mostly complete new wiring harness, it is self-propelled again, albeit VERY LOUD. Comes from having open headers with no exhaust at all on it. Going to talk to some exhaust shops this coming week.

Exhaust is scheduled for the week after Thanksgiving. Mufflers will be Flowmaster clones, as recommended by the old school shop I'm taking it to.
Exterior is almost wrapped up. Then I'll finish the interior before the final mods - power rack & pinion steering and modern A/C.

Exhaust and other stuff needed for road use (wipers, seatbelts, inside mirror, etc.) is now in place. New power rack and pinion conversion parts are on their way. Still haven't ordered proper fitting wheels yet, but the new tires for them are here.

Test fitting the new wheels prior to painting them.

Looks more finished than it really is...

look'n real good arne !!!
Finally started on the interior. I've got the new power steering pump mounted, but still waiting on the rack & pinion conversion parts.

Great looking truck, Arne. Looks like a fun project and shocking how much less expensive parts are compared to anything featured on this forum that starts with a P. I have a beautiful, low mileage 96 K1500 Chevy Silverado that turns head everywhere I go. It’s a great cruiser and I love it. Nick
Yeah, parts are dirt cheap compared not just Porsches, but also to anything else I've restored. Gives some additional options, as I can easily decide to go farther than I normally might.
Carpet is done, new seat foam and the rack & pinion arrive early next week.
Attachment 587872
This is going to utterly transform the steering of this old truck...
Attachment 588255
Since the last post, the seat has been completed, and the rack & pinion kit installed. One glitch there, the re-routed steering shaft interferes with the steering pump location. So I've regrouped and will be using a Volvo electric steering pump instead. Which won't arrive until next week...

Arne...great color combination!
The new power rack is installed, powered by a Volvo electric pump. Nothing old school here.

Awaiting a new aluminum radiator and electric fan. Took it out for a short spin yesterday to enjoy the last sun we're likely to see here for a week or so.

Old trucks are cool. My first “car” was a 1955 Ford F-100. One day, I will have one again.
My first "car" was also a Ford F-100, but a 1959 in my case. Sold it and my first actual car was also a Ford, a 1963½ Galaxie 500XL 2 door fastback, complete with gas swilling big block 390. Oddly, I've never owned another Ford since...
New radiator and electric fan install is mostly complete. Next up is adding power assist to the disc/drum brakes.
Attachment 591781
Power brake conversion kit is backordered, so I'm picking away at details while I wait.

C-10's are the bomb! I like them. Should have backed the truck up when they were cheap. :o
I've had a bunch of contemporary trucks but I like the old stuff for simplicity. Last summer I found a "Unicorn" Dodge 1st Generation "Texas Truck" with NO rust except for the "sunburned" paint. I used Sweet Patina "Sauce" to protect what's left and that's it for now. The interior is 100% original, never smoked in. Had to repair the headliner but that comes with the territory at this juncture. I have the original trim for the driver's side but haven't bothered to install it.
Venerable 5.9 Cummins 12 valve turbocharged/intercooled engine which was a ground breaker when new. 160HP and 400 Lb/Ft Torque. A drop in the bucket these days but this one doesn't need a dealer to "read the computer" nor does it need DEF Fluid. LOL
This is now my official Cars and Coffee representative. For whatever reason, nobody parks next to me. ;)
Since the last post, the disc brakes installed by the prior owner have acquired power assist, a fairly basic radio and speakers installed, the front ride height raised an inch, and the wood bed floor has been installed. Waiting for the A/C parts to ship now.

OMG!!! I love it!!! You hit a home run with this project!!! Nice choice on the wheel and tire change!!!! The others were just too much. Every thing else I see is totally awesome!!! Want to sell it? ;)
Sithot, my 5.9 24 valve I just put $60K or so in. Should run 12s. 2500 4X4 Quadcab. Probably going for new power with Mahle pistons and Carrillo rods, head studs, etc., etc. Why stop at this point? :o
@ 45PSI of boost... How long with the head bolts last? LOL!!!
Arne that is so awesome, you should be SO proud! WOW!!!! Amazing detail!!! You should show it! It would win, promise!
Well, just like all my retirement projects, it will be sold as soon as I declare it finished. The A/C parts arrived a couple days ago, so probably another 2-3 weeks, I'm guessing. Then it goes on the market.
There's a big, semi-local cruise-in coming up in early June. It features pre-75 American vehicles mostly. So I will try to make sure I have it mobile for that, even if the A/C install isn't 100% done.
A/C installation has begun.

Then just a few minor touch up items. I plan to attend a local American Classic show and cruise on June 3rd, with a For Sale sign in the back window.

Beautiful, so whats your next project?
You need a 5 window GMC or Chebbie. I had a totally rust free "NEVER" rusted truck from a farm in Maine. Never saw road salt. Dirt floor barn kept. Put a paint job on it and that was all. Interior was 100% original. Hated to sell it but the guy bought it from whined for months over his decision and seeing other opportunities I let him have it back at cost plus improvements. He eventually did some really horrible things to it. How about a full red leather interior on a Juniper Green truck. 🤮
Here's my ex-'54 3100. Completely RUST FREE truck. Cab corners, all the usual suspects just like it left the factory. Fresh Juniper Green over a straight body.
The A/C was charged a couple of weeks ago, and—as they say in all the car ads—blows COLD.

Took some time to squash a couple of small bugs, and I'm now declaring it to be finished. I will clean it up a bit, do a few final touch-ups, and then start marketing it. Considering BaT, but we haven't agreed on a reserve yet.
Attachment 598202
The truck has been accepted by BaT. Lead time is around 3-4 weeks (or so they told me today).
Still waiting on BaT. Definitely a bit of promising what it takes to make the sale, and then reality sets in. Already more than 4 weeks waiting, and I'm going to guess I'm still 1-2 weeks away at best.
Looks like the auction will go live on the 4th, or 5th at worst.
Thanks, Ron. I was just coming by to post that.
Reserve not met... :(
Sold and delivered today. The hunt for something new can now begin...
