Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm going to play devil's advocate:
What is the reason for this? Are these things for sale or is this the new "selfie"?
Hey Frank, I didn't get this "stuff" at a swap meet it was afterwards at his home. It was from a gentleman who used to work in the parts departments of a bunch of different dealerships back in the early 70's. I enjoy sharing what I found and I hope other people enjoy it also. Yes the items will be for sale eventually......and since I don't do selfies I guess this my version of that!

I learned long ago that most people in this league really didn't care what we bought or had stashed away unless they could actually buy it. lol.
Unless of course it's an uber rare piece and it's posted for resource pics.
To each his own. Keep posting those selfies.

Michael, nice to see some of this literature. What is in the Techn Informationen books. I do not believe I have seen those before, so no idea as to contents. I am always interested in Tech info. I agree, it does look like a Mega score.

These are the Factory Service bulletins. Interesting to read how the Factory "improved" things, they never admitted to doing something wrong or having a part or procedure be faulty, but they would sometimes "improve" the design. The late Roy Lock I think tried to chronicle all of them, I don't know if he ever did, but he scanned in a lot of them.Quote:

I understand to some degree promoting a business with social media but we as a culture have become obsessed with self promotion. So much so that it has become normal to boast and brag without even a hint of shame or embarrassment. It is no secret this practice helps validate one's insecurities and shores up their fragile sense of self worth and esteem. I come from a different generation and don't understand it. Again, outside of commerce it has the appearance of narcissism. If people like seeing other people's stuff, I suppose that's cool. But at the end of the day it comes down to why people post their bounty for all to see. In this case I will reserve judgment and assume Michael has the purist of motives.Quote:

When this was more of a hobby among fellow Porsche addicts a few years ago, we always celebrated our friend's "scores" at Hershey. It could be a used set of Fuchs for track day or a good price on fenders for your SWB restoration. Granted, much has changed since then, but I still am amazed at what people find. One of my favorites was a dirty, unrestored Carrera 4-cam just sittin' on the back of an old pickup truck at Hershey. And no, I didn't ask....

I think if I were more cynical I would think this is just an end around way to post “for sale” items with no price tags while avoiding the “for sale” forum and it’s rules. Sort of in the line of “feeler” posts. The goal being an auction in the form of private messages. Which I’m willing to bet some may have sent here.
Of course, that would only be the case if I were more cynical.

Looks like you found some interesting stuff. Good job! Love the models, and some of those parts books are pretty cool references. A lot of the little stuff hasn't survived the digital transfer...
I would take pictures of my score except I bought and sold the NOS, 73 date-stamped, 180mph speedo about 30min after I bought it on Saturday AM and nobody wants to look at photos of money... ;) :D

A good comparison to better understand how all the old 356 guys ended up with several cars, many of which sat for decades is to look at the modern version of the 356, it terms of value, the 914. 914's are cheap, especially project/parts ones. So the guy who has 1 914, in a couple of years ends up with 3-4 of them. Either from scanning craigslist or gifts from people, they just accumulate. That's how it was back in the day with 356's, a few hundred dollars here and a case of beer there, and you looked up and you had 3 356's. I recently bought 2 cars from an estate, the cars I bought were a 59 A Coupe and a 63 Super 90 B coupe, both had been parked under a carport for decades, the A I know was driven under the carport in 1969. Why did they just sit? Well, the guy did restore a twin grill Roadster, a 55 Speedster, and a Pantera, he just hadn't gotten to the other two yet, but they were on the list. He probably bought them for peanuts in the late 60's/early 70's.Quote:
