Not to ride Cornpanzer's coat tails, but I thought I'd post a few shots of the trip down too.
Here's my car with some of the other NC group.

Another shot of Dave and Curt's cars.
Headed South.
Where's Curt with that coil?
Interesting rear speaker in an early 911?
Caproader's car in the 1-40 year group.
The first rule of the GreenSkulls is don't talk about the GreenSkulls!
Hey, that's my car!Quote:

The speaker is listed on the cardex as "Auxilary Loudspeaker". I
have not seen another like it. Anyone else?

In Barry Williams car......oh, that's right, .....you bought that car!(right out from underneath me!!)

Eric
I didn't think anyone else would want such a car . B. Anderson says they're only suitable for museums, or people who just like Old Cars! :rolleyes:Quote:

Jim,
I about fell over laughing when I saw that notice about BA in your windshield. That is a stunning car....enjoy it.
Dave
Oh and the coil story is pretty funny. When Curt got to my house he mentioned that he had a slight miss at certain RPM's so I grabbed the MSD coil out of my drag beetle and tossed it in his trunk. When we pulled into the rest area in St Augustine to take a whiz, my car totally died and refused to re-start. Problem....well after about 20 min of diagnosis we determined that it was the coil.
Lucky break for me eh? Whats the chances of that one? Thanks to Paul, Tom, Hal, John and Curt for hanging out and making sure that we got going again. Nice to have someone watching your back on a road trip with a 34 yo car! :)
Tom, that rest area photo is hilarious!
swbs: I'm still laughing about that sign in your window!
here is a better pic of SWBS's red ride. Doesnt get much better!
Jim's stunning car can also be seen on the cover of European Car when they did a special tribute to the Early S a few (6 yrs?) ago.
Someone should post a pic (Jim?) of the interior of that car with the sport seats and the unique headrest.....
Eric
I have one of those that was in my 69S. I think its still stash somewhere in my garage.
Cris
What else is stashed in your gararge? I'm always looking!
Jim, your car is fantastic. Here's a shot of the interior, if you can see through the reflections. I was really taking it for the cool old school Road America sticker. Any comments from the Super Secret Seat Police?
Racemor,
Thanks for including the picture of the 73. BTW, the 74 next to it belongs to Bob Snodgrass, aka "Mr. Brumos Porsche". He told me that Peter Gregg always thought that the Sporto S's were the best cars to drive because of the instant shift time.
The Capitalist Roader
Cap, there was something about the Sporto on Dreamcar Garage one time. Peter Kluut (sp?) drove what was supposed to be Peter Gregg's Sportomatic S saying that he supposedly had one to teach himself not to rest his hand on the shift lever. From what you told me at the Ale House, that would make sense.
Tom,
Good to hear from you. I certainly enjoyed talking with you Friday evening at the Ale House. I'll see if I can find an internet site for the discussion you mentioned.
Next time that the group gets together, we'll probably need name badges that have both our 'real life' names and user name. BTW the S made it home in good order, including some serious rain north of Atlanta. It is in the garage in the process of coversion back to German/Euro spec.
John

Well, I guess next week will be a good one - photos of Rennsport and Monterey! :)
Yeah, I'm looking forward to Sam's photos too... the "official"photos. Until then, Wayne has posted thousands on Pelican. But then again, Wayne is no Sam (meant in the kindest possible way Wayne ;) ).
Great to meet you Sam, have a great time and a few Coronas for me in Monterey!
it was great meeting everyone, I just wish I was a little better organized, looking back now that the event is over there are a lot of pictures I should have taken that I didn't, mainly the legendary drivers that were just walking around, signing autographs and posing for pictures with anyone that asked, as time goes by it seems the cars have faired better than the men that drove them, I hope they have another one of these in the near future, I'd like to get a chance to take more pictures of and with these guys before the only thing left are the cars.
:D
:D
Hey Sam, I think you have a problem with your camera. It added 30 pounds to me but didnt add any to Jacky Icxx.....;)
Thanks for snapping that pic,
Dave
