OUTSTANDING PICS SAM!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I couldn't attend...
Finally putt'n a roll bar in the old blue car this weekend...
How long will Thor be out?
Cheers,
Sam,
Once again you've done a beautiful job with pictures and the humor! Another R Gruppe event brought to the "BIG SCREEN" by SWB Sam Cam. Yesterday was a fun day! It's good to see Thorsten and his girlfirend Doris.
Thanks to Dick and Maureen Moran for hosting a fantastic breakfast for 25 plus people in their beautiful home. Mike Sofka's fiance Jean for her helping Maureen feed all us Porsche Wackos. John Wilhoit for sharing his knowledge of the most recent additions to the Moran garage. A twin plug, EFI, 1900cc, firebreathing 365 speedster GT Outlaw Hot Rod and THE MOST PERFECT 356 I've ever seen! A black/tan twin grill roadster that is unbeliveable.
A fun time was had by all!
All the best!
Roger Grago
R Gruppe #27
Dick,
Thanks for you and wife being the great hosts even though I couldn't make it (work. argh). Next time. Looks like everyone had a great time.
Hey Sam, good coverage as usual. I know it's a bit of work, but it'd help relating names and faces since I don't get out much.
Sherwood
Boy, it's ahrd to look at Sam's pictures of the wackos and not be there!!!! I did take a lovely mountain ride with a beautiful girl so I'm not totally bummed!!! ;)
DM how did you ever get you wife to agree to let you park those awesome 356 Porsches in your kitchen? ;) What a garage :D , actually her kitchen is even nicer than the garage. :)
Any dyno specs on the hot rod 1900 moter? What's it like to drive that one?!
Nice of you guys to give Thor such an awesome welcome back.
I was Awol, just preparing for next weekends race.

Just want to add my .02 into the mix here....
First, Thank you Roger for calling the 'gruppe out to give our dear friend and fellow RGruppe member Thorsten Klein a great welcome back to So. Cal. .....a very worthwhile gathering for early hotrod 911 enthusiasts.
Sam....you know you get my double thumbs up for all you do and for just being there.... :)
Dick & Maureen Moran....a most hearty standing ovation and applause for offering to host yet another 'Gruppe gathering. A MOST FINE experience, ..to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and warm hospitality you so graciously share with the RGruppe members, Thank You so very much. I hate to say it Dick, but the only thing more mouth watering than your cars is Maureen's great food !!!!
And finally to all the So. Cal RGruupe members who actively participate in the club activities. It wouldn't happen if you all didn't show up and make it happen.
Thanks everyone......

But I did enjoy all the pix. Gotta listen to Horace Greeley.

We enjoyed having the gang and Maureen loves to cook and entertain.
It was great to see Thorsten and to meet his girlfriend Doris.
Thanks - as always - to Roger for his constantly cheerful and tireless work in arranging the morning's events and to Sam for his masterful work with his ever-present camera.
And special thanks to John Willhoit for taking Saturday morning away from his shop to tell our primarily 911 crowd all about his work with 356s.
Mike - John Willhoit designed and personally built the motor. It's 1925 cc and dyno'd at 152 hp and 140 ft-lb of torque. The car is an absolute blast to drive - remember that line in the Beach Boys song: "...and I get rubber in all four gears.."? :) :) :)
wow!...those were just a great way to start my day!..thanx; that engine made me drool on my keyboard......
Hmmmm....I can see I'm gonna have to pack up the 911 (and wife + kid) and move out to the west coast. I'm afraid in my area I'm a one RGruppe-er carrying the flag. It's great to see the pics and the comraderie of R Gruppe out there. You guys rock! :D
HEYHO!
Thank you so much for that great start for our vacation!
We started our trip today and are in a great motel right by the beach in Santa Barbara! Thanks Johnny Riz!! Good R'commendation... :D :) ;)
It is absolutely beautiful out here, we just cruised the beach with a bike...
Sam, great fotos!!! Awesome!
Dick, Thanks again for the breakfast!
John, Thanks for your home!!! :)
Ray, Thanks for your home!! :)
Roger, looking forward to your home :)
Jim, Thanks for your home, Thanks for the Italian loaner... There won't be any
corrosion problems on a bunch of early 911s that followed us in the Spider... ;)
See ya all soon!!
Thorsten&Doris
I have been wondering for quite some time now as to what that means in Thorsten's sig' (see above)
I actually have been gardening and all of a sudden that word pops into my head and It won't go away....really!!!
Well we all know "Renn to be "race" and that's not the part that has had me saying it over and over in my head....it's the other part...."semmel"
Well last night I finally cornered Thorsten into coming up with an english translation for me....
He told me it means "race-bun" ("bun" as in hot dog or hamburger bun...I clarified that part...)
rennsemmel = race bun
:D :D  :D
rennsemmel = race bun = HAULS ASS!!!!!!!!! :D
oh. no denying that the "rennsemmel" is fast....
Thorsten was sharing an autobahn moment last night....a certian stretch he said he was at 140 mph for 65 miles..... no V1 needed !!!! :D
