I would have to say silver, my least sepia brown.
Tallied my vote...first one!
I'd vote for the color listed on the color plate...
Okay, my vote's in. However, I must protest the grouping of red and orange as one choice. Not a red 911 fan... but love orange 911s.
Isn't this a personal choice? or, one of each.
Sherwood
I know its a personal choice, but I was just interested in seeing this from a de$irability perspective. i.e. , which colors tend to fetch the highest prices, everything else being equal of course?
So again (if I didn't make this clear before), this isn't necessarily about what YOUR favorite 911 color is, its about which colors you think tend to be the most desirable...
Interesting that intial results here differ from those on Pelican - there really is a group difference in esthetics I guess...
And nobody likes red much...
I have had a couple of years to prepare myself for it an now I am looking forward to it.
I never liked red until I got a red car. Now I love it! Remember, red was the colour of the car that won Le Mans in 1970, Porsche's first overall victory at the Sarthe.
And alot of 911's have raced and won in red. Monte Carlo 1970 was my favourite. So out of respect, I chose red.
It presents well?
My vote is Silver for the most desirable and next would be any of the 'safety colors', like Signal Orange, Signal Yellow and Signal/Emerald/Viper Green. All those colors seem to really excite buyers the most IMHO.
I think that it's clear that blutorange (a/k/a tangerine) was the best :D, followed by light ivory and silver.
It's hard to choose, when the choices don't exactly match the options.
Where is Sand Biege?
I vote for Sand Biege!
:D
Red is a geat color for a sports car - there are just so many red 911s already.
And the other thing is the "cop-attractant factor"
Obviously, Gemini Blue and Gulf Blue are the very best 911 colors... Obviously...
I don't know how many times I heard the story about the woman who had her 911 custom painted the same shade as her nail polish. Any photos?
Totally Agree! Where is Sand Beige?
My favorite combination for an early 911 (my definition of "early" is earler than most people's) is Slate Gray with red leather--I don't see that on the list, either.
Red/Orange need to be separate. My car is red and I agree: I hated red until I bought a red 911. Still, if I ever repaint it, it's going back to its factory green finish (exact shade unknown until kardex arrives).
Tangerine Orange is my choice. But I'm biased after living with my car for 12 years.
Well, I got involved in a "Arrest me Green" a couple of weeks ago. But skated a 93 in a 55 down to "not wearing a seatbelt." I was the only one of 8 Pcars on the run that got a ticket. Talk to me about the cop attractant factor of RED??? The Red boxster got a smile and a wave. I got the ticket!!!Quote:

And I agree with the crowd. Orange and Red don't belong together. Too too many reds. yes, too many.

You guys are right about the orange/red issue... Now if only we could get one of the moderators to "fix" it since I couldn't edit it myself...
Larry, Larry, Larry, .......you will drive 93 on a highway but not 60 on an auto-x course?!?!?!?! :)
Judging by the responses I am right in line with repainting my car from the current black to the correct SILVER! :D Plus I have to distinguish myself from Dave's car somehow. Oh, I know...his runs :p
Yes,
But my car was originally silver too! :D
That's why you have to keep yours black! Either that or get back to the bitchin RED interior!
Hello: My 70 s was originally Conda green but is black now. How will the conda green look? The black on this car is not very good, but have seen some nice ones. I like blue cars Ossi and gemini blue also. I don't like red to much but love the orange. Well as you can tell I like them all. Thanks Eric
Conda Green is sweet.
Sort of a paler version of my Leaf Green.
Also, Aga Blue.
Yes, Sand Beige.
All the Oranges.
Not Sepia.
Not Chartreuse.
Not Purple. I saw a Moonstone car at Streets of Willow and OUCH! It's like Lavendar from Hell.
Conda Green is one of those amazing period colors that begs to be looked at. Any car lucky enough to have Conda Green as the original color which no longer has it needs to be repainted immediately to the original.

I voted silver, but the oranges, and Albert blue are my faves!
Agreed....Quote:

I cant believe there is no option for Sepia ;)

On a more serious note, I cant believe there is no option for Tangerine
OK, OK, I admit I voted twice, :( , I couldn't help myself. But it was really because I read the survey as "what colorS" rather in the singular. So, beat me, relegate me to the basement apartment. SNIFF, I don't know what got into me. Really, it was a mistake, I won't let it happen again. :o ;)Quote:

There. Does that clarify???????

But Eade, you didn't list Sepia Brown!!!! Come on now, you're going to hurt Shuie's feelings!!Quote:

If you love Viper and Conda, you cannot exclude Signal Green. They are soooo close to each other. Oh and Irish Green, even though much darker is one of the most elegant colors ever.Quote:

Hello: I guess I will have to restore the 70s back to the original conda green from the badly painted black it is now. Thanks Eric
Sand beige!
Pic was taken sometime in 09/04. Regular is over $2/gal here now. Im sure it could be worse.Quote:

Some colors I like better than others, but I dont mind Sepia at all. Its an early '70s color that works on an early '70s car. I do completely understand that some people could never live with the color. There are colors Ive seen on these cars that I feel the same way about.
Some of my other favorite period colors are:
Leaf Green (6830)
Olive (414)
Slate Grey (L6401)
Sea Foam Green (someone please give me the paint code for this!)
Dont get me wrong, I like the louder early '70s period colors like Blutorange (my other car), Chartruse, and Viper Green also. Silver metallic looks good on any era 911. The blue metallics like on Lars (335 Gemini Blue), Chucks (334 Meduim Blue), and Danes (Glasurit color) cars are great colors.
Honestly, I think the only color I cant get past is Rose. Im not a fan of Reds either, but I think they work well on some other peoples cars.
OK I voted and of coarse I am biased. It is hard to vote for just one color though. There are so many to love for different reasons. Silver is just so classic and symbolizes Porsche, white/ivory very clean and pure looking, and then the very period bold, bright, non-deluted 'right out of the tube' colors....yea!
Regards,
No doubt, Slate Grey / Red leather. Second choice is Tangerine.
What happened to PlayMate Pink!? Paint those sliver cars PINK! :D
1st vote is for a slate gray w/ red and black vinyl interior 65 coupe.
2nd vote is for a signal yellow 70S coupe with houndstooth fabric inserts and black vinyl.
3rd vote is "whatever color the factory shot it with."
Sooo, I am required by my last statement, to vote for conda grun.
I voted. Shawn.
