congratulations............. but what is a RHD car doing in your part of the world? Don't you have enough LHD ones?
Is the engine still the original #902996 or has that been lost over time?
My understanding is that 302773 should be light ivory with a red leatherette interior. Is that correct? and if so is there any signs of that left after being a "bastaardized racer..."
on my Kiwi cars list it was showing as red at one stage

Theres a lot of red paint and no ivory anywhere.....

I was wondering what had happened to this car. Interesting to see it go half way around the world.
Are you a kiwi or just keen to come have a look around in an awesome car? It's a shame you couldn't leave it here to get restored.
Can't wait to see it back on the road over here sometime, my former employer has the 1st 356 in nz so maybe we could get them side by side.

great to at last see this car started,so wish I had had the time and money to have done it myself,
don't worry we here had the same reservations on the authenticity of this car,we couldn't find any
of the original paint either,but I had the right people here check this car out and also Porsche Germany
confirmed the numbers,this is going to be a great project,wish you all the luck with it,

Hugh, theres no interior left in this car. I'm in the waiting list for some repurposed coffee crates door panels. No dash no knee pad... zilch. And sign me up please for that coconut rusk mixed with horse hair ambrosia thing. Yes, the pictures show that the only residual old paint appears to be polo red or tangerine.

Hi Reza, great to see this early Kiwi 911 being restored to it's former glory. I have a friend who owns the 2nd NZ new RHD 911 #302771 which is currently being restored in Auckland ... it will be great to follow both restorations.

I feel so much better now. 2 years into the 356 and we're going on the rotisserie soon. Machined pins this week for the 4 holes that take the trailing arms. Normally, these would be used to align the chassis with a Celette. Mine is straight so these are actually being used with some heavy duty fixtures to mount the front of the car to the rotisserie.
Here are 2 of them. Copied exactly from an original part.
Now thats machining.

Well, it has really been a while. :D
Just to update. This car did not get completed yet and is now in storage.
Engine and gearbox are done. Major body work is done. It is down to the last of the panel work and finishing, before final assembly.
I am putting this early early car for sale. It is a factory original RHD car, first imported and registered to NZ with awesome community history there. First registration Feb '66. It is a late 1965 production car. Note, there are no 1964 RHD cars.
Car and engine matching numbers. Wheels, seats and dashpads are missing from the car, but most of everything else is there.
Was originally light ivory with red peptita interior.
Shame you are not going to finish it Was looking forward. Maybe someone here will buy it and finish it for us to see? I don't think I saw your price? :) You have done a lot of the heavy lifting on this car. KUDOS
