To yellow zinc or gold cad that is the question?
I have a 1971 911 T Targa and since I took the rear suspension apart to replace the wheel bearings and all the rubber bushings I thought I would clean everything up a bit. Some stuff is obviously still gold cad from the factory but some stuff it is hard to tell. Also are there any other coatings that were used beside the gold cad or black paint? It would be great if I could get a list of what parts are supposed to be what coating. Is yellow zinc very different from gold cad in appearance? I think it is hard to get yellow cad in Cali anymore so I have sourced a place in Hayward (http://www.eps-plating.com/) that does yellow zinc. Pictures speak a thousand words and I would love to see the parts people have refurbished in the correct coating so I can identify which parts go where. Does anyone have any tricks to get the spring plate removed from the torsion bar? It seems to wiggle around some but I will damned if I can get it off yet!
