Sagging Steering Column on '67S...
Hello Guys,
Would appreciate some help. The steering column on my '67S is has sagged some. Well, I can't really describe it except that between the top of the turn signal/wiper housing, there's space for me to put a finger.
My car has the early long column in the boot.
I was at the agent this afternoon and the mechanics insist that there's a bracket that mounts the column to the dash. I don't see any holes on the dash.
Are they on dope or am I?
Thanks for any leads.

Isn't your car RHD? I have never seen how the column goes on a RHD car, but roblav is right, there is no bracket on a LHD car, the column goes thru a hole in the dash and there is only about 1/4" clearance at the top on mine.
Maybe you could ask fishcoteque who posted the nice pics of his yellow Targa from Oz with RHD in this thread what it looks like on his?
TT

The RHD cars are very similar. I'll try post a pic of mine later.
1/4" gap? Hmm... If you push your steering wheel up from the bottom, does the gap close any?Mine has about 1/2" gap and the crazy thing is that when I try bolt in a stock steering wheel, the shaft is too short!!!!! Some bearing appears to be in the way..
So with no bracket, I assume it's that being held up by that broomstick-like thing in the trunk? The one with a flat end and 2 bolts?
I think fishcoteque's car is different. The column changed in '68. Our cars are the last year for the early-style column.
