Re-do rear deck pad
I would like to remove and recover the rear deck pad behind the rear seats (73 911). Does anyone know how to remove this part? Have any of you done this? Mine has warped in the area that comes in contact with the rear window. There was no engine pad and I think the heat from the engine may have caused the warping.
Thanks

Not sure if you're talking about the vinyl trim or sound insulation.
Unscrew vinyl trim pad from trim screws behind rear seatbacks/side panels and at strap holders on pkg shelf. !t should remove easily. Be careful as the substrate is fiberboard and can crease with too much force. You can order a replacement part if this is what you want to fix, or use the substrate as a template to cut and cover a new piece. You may be able to cut a new hard piece for just the shelf and rewrap with the original vinyl.
If you want to remove the insulation pad, it should then pull out if you're lucky. The factory glued the pad on so you will likely need to scrape whats leftover from the metal. Some glue thinner or a heat gun helps here. I used an acrylic scraper which did not leave marks on the metal finish. Once you're down to metal, there are a variety of sound/heat insulation choices out there.
BTW - Say a prayer now that you don't find rust from leaking seals / quarter windows!
Hope this helps.
