Top choice are Sonnenshein, (sp.)?
I just installed two Mazda Miata AGM batteries from battery mart.com in my 69. I used the 2 1/8” foam blocks that they were packed in to put behind them. It was the perfect size to put the batteries in the proper position for the tie down brackets. About a 1/2” foam piece fore and aft and they are rock solid.
Do a search lots of thoughts on batteries.
Thanks that is helpful. I will check out Battery Mart...what year Miata....or they all the same?
Up until 08 maybe. Just go for 95 and you’ll be good.
Thanks...I will check them out.
If you don't want the best the miata batteries come in second and are widely available in AGM. I've been using them for 4 years and keep them on a smart charger.
I also have the Miata batteries in my 72T. The fit is a bit on the tight side, but solid. The clearance to the positive terminal is small, so be certain to strap them down tightly, and maybe put a plastic or rubber cover on the positive cable end.
Original batteries had a black plus a white cover for positive located with two pegs that fit holes in top of OEM battery but often long ago these AWOL. Also these factory insulating pieces may need be different if now using other batteries.
There are some marine batteries folks are using that fit perfectly.
