Scott:
Just seeing your post for the first time...do you still need an early decklid in trade for 67/68 version? I have a '66 decklid on my '68 912 and am interested in swapping for the correct lid. Feel free to email me via ghapgood82@hotmail.com for quicker response.
Best regards.
Greg
Can you educate me on what the differences are?
Thanks
Model year '66 911s/912s (built in '65-'66) always have a center bar in the decklid opening, two mounting holes on the lower right side of the decklid for slanted 911/912 script, and no mounting holes on the upper left underside of the lid for optional rear wiper, which didn't make its appearance until MY '67. Depending on when the MY '67 and '68 911/912 car was actually built, cars assembled in late '67-early '68 may have a center bar or no center bar. Later '68 MY cars (and after) do not have a center bar. The two mounting holes for the 911/912 script for '67 and later MYs are centered at the top of the decklid just under the lower edge of the grille. Pp. 28-32 in B. Johnson's book, "911 & 912 Porsche-A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity," is an excellent resource.
'65/'66 decklid still available for trade for '67-'68 decklid.
