4000 !!!!!!
With today's addition of Kilgore Trout our club's message board has unbelievably and proudly hit 4000 registered members.... ;) :)
So, to paraphrase what the namesake of our newest member once said...
"Our universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest.".... :D
Here's to 4000 more......... the adventures have just begun..... ;)
Cheers to all,
Chuck

Proud to be part of such a prestigious group of owners.:). This is truly a great social and informative community. Congratulations and may 5,000 be around the corner.

4000?
Feels more like a few dozen guys hanging around shooting the breeze about the cars we love. That must be why I enjoy this so much.
-
Chuck, what is the latest on the paying members? Would be nice to know how we stand in comparison to registered members.
If you are not a member, the new Esses magazine should be the reason for you to join. It is a fab job, by all concerned.

Karl,
The paid membership of the club is hovering around 650 to 700 .... which is a climb from the old 500 mark ... but still disappointing compared to the registered members on this board... or even the active contributors to this board..... :o
We would love to bring the paid membership up... considering membership in the Early 911S Registry costs about the same a year as one full tank of gas for the very thirsty cars we love....
Cheers, and thanks to those who support us......... :)

How about a membership drive like on PBS or Public Radio?
Every time you search or click on a post, something really annoying happens until you throw $35 bucks at it, to make it go away :p

Hey I'm a cheapskate and even I'm a member... the BEST money I ever spent !
-
I only wish I had joined up earlier. Esses is worth every cent and more.

I would tend to say that there are likely several hundred ACTIVE discussion board participants that might be prospective members for the Registry. As an example, please note this discussion board member:
zzwhm
Registered User
Last Activity: 02-09-2005
Thus, some database cleansing could be in order. That being said another discussion board-based membership drive might be a good idea!

4000 Members
Congratulations! I wish I had joined earlier as well, and happy there's a forum dedicated to the early cars. A friendly resource, this is like the National 911 Brain Trust. :D
(hey! that's catchy!)
I would agree with Peter. We grew the email list for my venue to over 6400 but soon realized we had nearly 700 dead or duplicated final user addresses.
PITA to stay on top of the constant fluxuations, mostly caused by users changing web providers. As it turned out, there is always about + or -3% my webmaster culls per month. I'm in the live music biz, so of course there are flakes. Some are a result of spam blockers and no amount of explanation to the membership of how they work will correct that problem.
Sending a blanket email to this board list encouraging full membership could do two things; shake the dead ends out, and give a present accounting of actual users,
active or not. Provided they have their spam filters set correctly and respond, of course.
I like Tom's (sithot) avatar sig: Paying Member... What's Your Excuse?
I may not post much, but you have my commitment to pay for the privilige.
Thanks!
