HALDA Twinmaster Install and Configuration in a Porsche 914-6 GT

Does anyone have any detail photos and/or set-up configuration details for a HALDA Twinmaster used in a 914?

Here are some of my questions;

1) Tire Diameter in use (wheels are obviously 15")
2) Cog Wheel Number
3) T-Gearbox Adapter
4) Drive Cable Length

Ideally, if you have one of the HALDA's installed in a 914 and have fabricated a custom mounting bracket, etc., photos of the bracket and your particular install would be helpful. Looking for ideas here... :rolleyes:

Your Twin is in extremely nice condition. Nice find.

The T gear you need is the V14. The length of your cable depends on where you mount the Halda. It's a personal preference. Some navigators like it in front of them while others have it in the middle so that the driver has a better look on it and can reset it too (if needed).

The X and Z wheels you can figure out once you have put some miles on it and knows how far are you off. If you search threads you will find info. Cam Arnott (spelling) started a thread a few years ago.

BTW I don't like the position of the stopwatches in this picture. For the navigator they are harder to reach than when they are straight in front of him/her.

Thank you for the posts, much appreciated. I'll start looking for the setup parts I need, maybe some spare parts too while I'm at it. Here is a larger photo of the 914-6 factory homologation photo with the Halda installed, forgot all about it...

In a 914-6 GT, the fuel gauge is relocated just to the right of the heater controls and it may be in the way of an ideal install location on the dash. I suppose once I have the dash in place, I will be able to better find the ideal install configuration. I believe the 914 is also a bit wider inside the cockpit when compared to the 911 and a few photos I've seen of the Halda TM in a 911 does help with some install suggestions.

I still love to see what others have done in a 914, I recall seeing some videos on YouTube of 914 rally cars at events.

Okay, I have to suggest and point this out... Note the 3rd clip below, that's Jeff Zwart doing the driving. When playing his clip, set it to full-screen mode, then sit back, relax and enjoy that video! Also, pay particular attention to the excellent location of the video camera, not to mention the crisp quality of the video as it clearly captures the entire cockpit and the pilot's driving skills. This was 'by design', not coincidence and maybe some of the results can be attributed to Jeff's experience as a professional photographer, among other things I'm sure.

That first Trento hillclimb vid is one of my favorites... Sr. Ronconi makes a fierce launch and then just hammers it up the mountain!

Killer sound, and there's gotta be a Hewland sequential in that thing.

Anyway, good luck finding period GT rally incar video for images of a Speedpilot and clocks in use. Still photos are scarce enough...

That's funny, I thought so too Russ, there is NO WAY my 901 or 916 gearboxes can shift that well. Not that I can remember, ever... ; )
