Oil Capacity for 911S?
I am a little confused about the oil capacity for my newly acquired 67 911S. I read in some of the technical manuals that the tank and engine hold 9 Litres. Yet in an upfixing article on oil levels, it says no more than 7 quarts. I just changed my oil, and put in 9 litres. Did I over do it, and could this cause damage? My dip stick shows the level just below the high mark.

Believe the manual. I have put 10 qts. in mine when changing the oil and filter. That's close to 9 liters, actually a bit more, I believe. As long as you are reading the dipstick correctly (with engine warmed up, thermostat open, idling on level ground), you are fine.
Even when overfilled, damage is unlikely, as the excess oil blows out of the tank thru the vent tube and into your intake, causing billowing smoke clouds out the exhaust and possibly fouled plugs, but usually nothing more.
