'67 911S Head
I'm new to the Porsche scene and have just started my 911 engine education... Everybody is a beginner at some point... My #1 head in my '67S has a crack near the sparkplug hole. Can the head be welded/repaired? I've heard of machine shops doing this for VW's. What does a single early S head go for? I'm very interested what you all out there recommend. Thanks for the help.

Gulp! I don't know if they can be repaired, but some years ago, I was told that S heads were $600 each. Probably more by now, but I'd definitely check more than one supplier for a part this expen$ive....

Whoa. Not a good start... Can anyone else offer a report on the market value of a used early S head?
pwd72s, thanks for the input.

Thanks for the input nick-moss.
Is the #1 head more prone to cracking then all the others? If yes, then why?
Thanks.

Call Walt at Competition Engineering, his number is 760-379-3879.
They do all sorts of fixes, and if anybody in the world can do it they can.
