On my third set of Yokohama Advan. They are about 200 tread wear but I have been super pleased with the wear as well as traction for either and autox or track day.

fitment has been discussed a bunch of times in the past year...on 7s, either deep or flat, you need to roll the fender to ensure the tire doesn't rub with anything larger than 185/70s - I don't know how you put an 8j under a stock rear fender without a decent roll.
I believe in one of those threads Longballa goes through what exactly he does to fit more meat under a standard LWB flare. I have sprint classics on my targa, which is running 185s on 6s in front and 7r's in the rear. They are fine for "spirited" street driving, but stink on the track because the sidewalls. CN36 are better, and will be replacing those. CN36s are not track tires though. Also have heard extremely good things about the Avons, but the CN36 are the period correct tire for a '73...plenty of info in the April '21 panorama too.
I’m running Pirelli CN36 tires on my 71 and find them to have less roll and quicker turn-in than the Vredestein tires they replaced. Definitely a stiffer sidewall than the Vreds. Are they as stiff as modern tires? Probably not but definitely high on the list of period correct style tires.
