As we ready ourselves for life’s next adventure (retirement), we have decided to lighten the load a bit and thin out the collection. It is time for this one to move on to the next custodian. It’s a lovely car that performs as well as it looks. A great diving car. A great show car. It probably falls somewhere between a Hagerty #1 and #2.
This preservation quality 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe is driven regularly and has been verified to retain approximately 50% of its original factory paint. Glass and trim, as well as most of the upholstery are also original to the car. The numbers-matching MFI 2.4-liter flat-six and original 5-speed manual transmission are also in place. Now showing a verified 67,800 miles from new, the car was built in the Spring of 1972 and is finished in the special order paint color Gold Metallic over black leatherette. This 911T was sold new at Lavia Porsche of Santa Barbara CA. in October of 1972. The vehicle remained in Santa Barbara County, California, as part of a priva9te collection for its entire life. The Vehicle was acquired by the seller in 2012 from Road Scholars in North Carolina where the vehicle currently resides.
The factory records confirm the car's current presentation in Black Leatherette (11) interior with the special order color of Gold Metalic (88)(140-9-3). The COA further notes that the car was optioned with US Equipment, Front and Rear stabilizer bars, Koni Shocks, Comfort Equipment, Tinted Glass and ‘S’ Series Brakes. Dealer installed options include, Drop Links, Blaupunkt AM-FM Radio, Front Speaker, European H4 headlight conversion and ‘through the grill’ Fog Lights.
This exceptional vehicle is accompanied by its original owner's manual, maintenance book, complete factory tool kit/roll, jack, Certificate of Authenticity, maintenance records and service history from new. Also included are the vehicles’ original registration documents including the original California blue license plate which is attached to the original Lavia Porsche of Santa Barbara, license plate frame.
Mechanical systems have been properly maintained since new and remain original, engine has been resealed and includes the updated hydraulic tensioners, clutch has been replaced, fuel system has been rebuilt, original exhaust is in place and non-ethanol fuel has been used since new. Currently running original spec. Dunlop tires (under two years old). Vehicle underwent a full ‘glass-out’ respray nearly thirty years ago due to clear coat failure. Only the upper surfaces show new paint. Interior, door jams, front and rear compartments, wheel wells and underside all show original finishes. Never any rust or rust repairs. Smuggler’s box shows 46 years of accumulated patina. The vehicle is stored in a climate controlled garage connected to a battery tender.

Dealer Description:
Description
Porsche South Bay is please to offer this very cool 1972 911 T Coupe with a very unusual combination of options including Sportomatic Transmission, Electric Sunroof, Power Windows, dealer installed AC and Sport Seats. Currently finished in Grey Metallic over black (originally Signal Yellow over Brown Leatherette) this Sporto T can best be described as a driving project or Patina car. It is presently road worthy with mostly solid chassis but will benefit from love and attention on the way to making this the Oil Flapper 911 of your dreams.
