How to remove the long screw from a H1 trim ring?

Is it possible to remove the long screw from the H1 trim ring without cutting it?

I cut mine so I could have the ring re-plated and then silver soldered it back together.

I assume that you mean the long spring-like high beam adjuster. The crux of H1 restoration. They are pretty much unobtainium and despite casually looking at it for many years I have never come up with a good replacement. I think that the factory used some type of sealant when they attached the adjustment screw to the cable. It sometimes works to apply heat. Otherwise I cut the cable and just use a 4M coupler with thread-locker.
