engine stand
I'm about to receive delivery of a 3.0 L engine with CIS. I'm going to put my Webers and SSIs on it, and re-finish the sheet metal. In other words, I'll be doing a little work on it and on the 2.7 that's coming out.
The Question: Will my friend's engine stand that he uses on his 356 and 912 support my larger engines? What's the weight difference? I'd rather borrow his stand than spend $300-$400 on a stand for one or two days work. His stand is pretty solid, but not the usual one you see for the 911.

not sure of the difference in weight, but a 911 motor weighs about 400 lbs.
I have used a cheap and cheerful stand without any problems apart from the fact that it had only 3 wheels, and tended to tip over if the stand was moved with a fully built motor on it. I now have a 4 wheeled stand which is super-stable
