RS # 1642 ????
Greetings,
While we are on the topic of unrestored and misrepresented RSs, here is one I would like to share. First I am not saying this car is an RS. I have done alot of homework on this one and it can not be proven by anyone that this is an RS OR anything else for that matter. Even the production number of 1034651 (which is a 73 number) can not be found from those who have helped me at Porsche and from other RS experts.
What is odd about this car is it has G body features throughout including seat rails ect. The serial number is also stamped in 74 and later sized numbers. Unfortunately I have been unsuccessful at getting the seller to look for the features unique to an RS tub.
The thing that has me feel this is fake is aside from no record of the car anyplace, If it is real where are the cars built between 1590 and 1642? This alone really lets the air out.

What keeps me thinking this car may be something is if you look at the vin # photo you will see the provisions for the plastic tank. Also if you were building a fake RS it would look like an 73 RS! The main problem is still no documentation from Porsche that the car exists even if the tub turns out to have the RS features.
I would still like to buy the car, but for what the seller wants it is too much to take a chance. Perhaps someone knows more about this car.
Best,
Don

LOL, I guess between Nick and I we managed to get them all up.
Don,
What is the motor in that car again, is it a 2.7CIS motor? Is the gearbox a '73 or 74? Interesting combination of features with this one.

Thanks Nick and Brian for posting the pictures. I need to enroll in a computer class. The engine is a 2.7 CIS. As you can see the car has been bastardised making it harder to judge. Thanks again guys.
Best,
Don

I would love to get a chance to crawl around that car.
It just happens to look rather like my 74 Carrera

The car is here in the States where it has been for at least a couple of years based on someone telling me it was on Ebay a while back. It does look "European" though!

Greetings All,
I was hoping someone has heard or maybe looked at this car. It is in Oklahoma. If there is a fellow member who could look at this one for me that would be great. Anyone?? Thanks.
Best,
Don
