Got out the 993 today for a run to the hardware store (drove the 73 to Cars & Coffee yesterday so it's been excercised). 50 yards or so down the street I heard a thump from the rear; I knew I had a flat. I turn around and pulled back into the garage and spent the next hour getting my jack stand under the rear driver side jack point so that I could remove the wheel. A big screw was the culprit, but worse than that I demo'd the inside edge of the tire in that 80 feet or so that I drove. New rears tomorrow from Discount Tire; maybe a complete set as I don't think Bridgestone S-03's are available any more.
I finished up the 3.2 install in my '74 this week and spent today test driving and looking for details to fix over the holidays.
Last year I went to the Porsche Performance Driving School outside of Atlanta -- they had the Panamera on the autocross layout and we did hot laps with the instructors -- intense. Then they took us out on the main track, some of us in Panameras again. I sat in the back seat -- gut wrenching to have a pro driver going at 9/10's in one of those!Quote:
