Uh, I'm not 100% positive about this, but I think the remakes at the dealerships are all you're supposed to have? Would make it too easy for thieves & counterfeiters if the originals were readily available. That's why they are perforated, difficult to remove in one piece.
Are you talking about the small square metal plaque which is rivited to the front door jamb, or the bigger, rectangular DOT VIN sticker which is glued on the rear jamb? The former is NLA for the early cars and I don't know anyone who makes a repro. The latter can be replaced by your local dealer for about $60, I believe, with proof of ownership, or the CHP can inspect the car and stick on a replacement here in CA.
