Hello,
I'm in search of a place that I can trust to rechrome my plastic Sunroof switch bezel.
I had heard of a place in L.A. that was good, can anyone please give a referral?
Thanks
Peter

Hi,
I tried to get this done here in the UK on window switches but the results were not great. By the time a copper base layer and chrome top coat was applied the results were too thick to reassemble. In the end I had them professionally spray painted in chrome paint and the results were good.
Good luck

An absolutely off the wall idea that I have no idea if it would work or not: Could a chrome vinyl wrap be applied to the bezel?
It's not so far-fetched.
Armed with vinyl wrap, a brand new exacto knife and a little bit of confidence, I looked at the compound curves and ran off to work on a different part of the car.Attachment 527618
This may not be helpful to you.
I make my parts in CAD. And print in 3D.
I make them in aluminum or steel, or brass. And then polish to mirror.
Little parts are about $15, to have made.
Unless it's a $2M car this is absolutely not worth that much time or trouble. With a little practice you can get outstanding results with chrome spray paint that nobody but you will ever know isn't original.
raspritz:
That, Sir, is precisely the problem.
I will know.
Scott A. Please take a look...how much would that part be to have made up?
So: anyone? Please help with the plastic chroming question?
Thanks
Peter
Have you called these places located near you? Even if none of them do plastics they'll know who does. The alternative (spray chrome) shouldn't be dismissed, if you don't like the results you can always spend more. ;)
