Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner!
is that it?
I don't know. I would like an expert to chime in on this, to make sure. Or, can any of you 73 owners climb under your car and check the casing numbers on both sides? :DQuote:

I don't consider myself an expert but I have (5) mag cases. Every one is xxx.xxx.101.xR on the left and xxx.xxx.102.xR for the right. One of the cases is a 73' by the way. It's a 5R case.
An interesting thing you'll find on the earlier cases is the mismatch of left and right sides in regard to the versions.
Examples:
71' 3R Left 2R Right
72' 5R Left 4R Right
73' 5R both sides
74' 7R " "
77' 7R " "
Thanks Bobboloo. But I thought all 73S and 73RS cars were fitted with 7R cases?
That I wouldn't know. It makes since though. My 73' case is from a T.
I do know however that all the 73.5' T CIS motors were built on 7R cases.
I seem to remember someone with a 73' S motor with a 5R case though. I guess it would probably depend on how late in the production year that the car was built.
just as another data point my 72 T has a 3R/4R case.
