Looking to buy my first 911 (a 1977 Targa) and need some advice
Hey all,
I'm looking to cut my teeth on a less expensive car than the early pre-1974 vehicles. The 1977 911 Targa I'm looking at has a 3.0 out of later model (what year, I do not know) so the magnesium case issue shouldn't be a problem. Other than that, the car is super clean and awaiting a PPI from a knowledgeable Porsche mechanic.
I'm coming to porsche from the world of 1967-1968 Mustangs, and I can tell you just about everything about those cars. I'm not terribly knowledgable about 911s, however, and am hoping that you guys can point me in the right direction for a car of the ~1977 vintage.
- Is there a comparable forum for 1974-1977 cars?
- Are there any buyer's guides that you'd recommend?
- How much would you pay for a very, very nice 1977 Targa?
