WTB: 30mm T-bars
All,
Looking for a set of 30mm(+) rear torsion bars for the race car...Hollow or solid, I really don't care-I'll pay a fair price either way...
Anyone have a pair laying around? taking up space? I'd rather help somebody from this forum out, before $plurging for a brand new pair...
Anyone?
Thanks
Thom Kuby
PS - to refresh your collective memory...the "race car" is a '68 911: swb, narrow-bodied 2.0 liter vintage racer. I tried to insert a photo - but i can't remember how to do it - can anyone help me out here?

Love that look ! :)

I'm pretty sure I've still got a set of 30mm Sanders Eng. bars with only about 18 months use on them. Are you still looking for a pair?
-
Jack,
Yes I am...
Thanks, Jack

I don't know, but Grady Clay, who hangs out on the Pelican board would. He posts under his real name there...and when he speaks early 911 suspension, it pays to listen. Still has his "hot" '68 911...he is very skilled mechanically, and I doubt that any other poster on either board has driven everything from an Abarth Carrera to a 904 to a RSR to a 935 to a 917, and has wrenched on them as well. :D

I put in a call to my shop, where the shell (with those bars) is. I'll ask them if there was a change in TB design between 68 and 73. Send me an email at jackolsen(at)comcast.net and I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Torsion bar spline count only changed with the G-50 transaxle in 1987. All the 911s from '64-86 share the same T-bar configuration. One of the most common upgrades for early cars is to put the Turbo 26mm rear T-bars in from the '76-86 930, which I have done on two SWB cars.
