BaT Description:
This 1973 Porsche is one of just 1,055 911E Targas built for the model year and is finished in Sepia Brown over beige/tan leatherette. The car was sold new in Texas and spent time in California before being acquired by the current owner out of Virginia in April 2016, reportedly from its original owner. Power is supplied by a numbers-matching 2.4L injected flat-six, which is paired with the original Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 15″ ATS wheels, front and rear stabilizer bars, and chrome wheel well moldings. This 911E was previously listed on BaT and is now being offered again by the current owner’s son with service records beginning in 2009, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, factory manuals and tools, and a clean Virginia title.
Sepia Brown (54) paint is shown up close and from a number of angles in the gallery below. The rear decklid, front bumpers, and license plate panel have been repainted, and the seller notes that areas of the undercarriage and inner front hood were also refinished during a refurbishment of the fuel tank. Paintless dent removal was recently performed on the driver’s door.
15” ATS “cookie cutter” wheels wear Kumho Ecsta tires. The car retains US-spec “sugar scoop” headlight rings and factory wheel well moldings. New front bumperettes and wiper arms were recently fitted, while the removable targa top molding has been removed but is included in the sale.
Tan leatherette seats are joined by matching carpets, a black dashboard, and two-tone door panels. A Blaupunkt push-button radio and four-spoke steering wheel are fitted. The A/C has been removed, though components from the system are included in the sale.
The 150-mph speedometer contains a five-digit odometer that shows 33k miles, approximately 2,000 of which were added by the current owner over the last four years. Total mileage is unknown. New targa top handles and sun visors have been installed since the previous auction.
The 2.4-liter flat-six features mechanical fuel injection and is linked with a five-speed manual transaxle. Oil-fed chain tensioners have been installed, and additional work performed since 2009 is outlined on a list and in receipts provided in the gallery below. An oil change was completed in 2018, and the brake fluid was flushed in 2016. The seller recommends that a brake service be performed. Stamping *6231784* is shown above and matches the number listed on the Porsche CoA, indicating engine originality. Transmission stamping 339946 is viewable in the gallery and also matches the CoA.
The suspension pan was replaced and the lower left side skirt was repaired with a welded-in panel in 2015 by Eurofinish LTD. of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Additional photos of the underbody and rockers can be seen. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the factory colors, optional equipment, and powertrain numbers.

Auction Description:
We are pleased to present this 1973 Porsche 911 E Coupe finished in its original color combination of Gemini Blue Metallic over a black leatherette interior. Having undergone a complete engine rebuild at Carousel Porsche approximately 20k miles ago, this 1973 example features a 2.4 L Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI) flat-six engine mated to a Sportomatic transmission which provides for refined clutch-less shifting. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this numbers matching 911 E is now being offered for auction in a beautifully resorted state by its seller in California while displaying approximately 20k miles on the odometer.
In 2016, this 911 was treated to a professional glass-out respray in its factory original color of Gemini Blue. The finish is said to be in great condition as seen in the provided images. Exterior highlights include chrome fender trim, a steel “S” front bumper and five Fuchs light alloy wheels.
The black leatherette interior is noted to be in good condition with a recently refurbished dashboard and reupholstered seats. Noteworthy details include “S” model instrument gauges, a dealer-installed air conditioning system and an upgraded Becker Europa radio. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
This 911 carries its original air cooled 2.4 L Bosch MFI flat-six engine which sends approximately 165 HP to the rear wheels by way of a numbers matching 4-speed Sportomatic transmission. The engine was completely rebuilt in 1998 by Carousel Porsche and the Sportomatic transmission was rebuilt by TLG Auto in 2017 with less than 2500 miles driven since. The odometer is believed to have been rolled over at the time of the engine rebuild with approximately 20k miles added since that time. Performance features include front and rear stabilizer bars as well as aluminum S-spec front brake calipers. Having resided in California since 2008 while being regularly serviced by Auto Werkstatt, TLG Auto and AIR Motorsports, this 911 E is said to be in exceptional driving condition.
The sale of this 911 will include books, a jack, a spare tire, a set of two keys and service records. This gorgeous 911 E represents an excellent opportunity for any vintage Porsche aficionado.

Auction Description:
1969 Porsche 911E - a gorgeous original 911E. The Porsche 911 is the most famous sports car of the German car manufacturer Porsche. The appearance of the car was designed by Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the Porsche brand. The known shape has hardly changed in the last 50 years. The Porsche 911E model was produced from 1969 to 1973. The 911E has been developed for more comfort than the 911S. The 911E is therefore positioned between the 911T (Touring) and the 911S (Super). The E stands for the German “Einspritzung”, which means injection. This “mechanical fuel injection, MFI” was developed by Bosch and Porsche. The 911E was supplied with a few unique features (fog light covers!) and includes a very nice package of paperwork, the original receipt, registration, manuals, tool kits, and more (please see photos). We also have a nice video of it running and it runs and drives beautifully. This 1969 Porsche 911 E coupe is in absolute fantastic condition. A very solid car with only one owner from new until just recently. All underbody is clean and solid. It is completely Original except for a single repaint to refresh it in the 1980's, literally everything looks to be in great condition. It is a ‘matching numbers’ car (with Certificate of Authenticity) and it is in the original factory colour with the original black interior. The engine, all mechanics and electricals have been well maintained and are in very nice working order. This Porsche is guaranteed to be a head turner and is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner!

Seller's Description:
I'm selling my 1970 Porsche 911E non sunroof coupe. The car has been restored with every mechanical part replaced or rebuilt. Not a nut and bolt "concourse" job (and priced accordingly) but very well done using original parts when possible. Correct but non original '70 E motor was split and completely professionally rebuilt by renowned Porsche racer for almost 4 decades, Charles Coker of 356 Inc. and his head tech George (has worked on Porsches for nearly 50 years) as well as the correct Type 911 (2 year only) 5-speed tranny with new synchros, etc. No longer MFI but wiring is still there if you want to convert back. Rebuilt Webers are on it now. Literally only break in miles are on the motor and tranny (less than 500). Chassis had 100k on it before rebuild. Hard and soft brake lines replaced, calipers rebuilt, new rotors, pads. Wiring and fuse panel replaced. New gas tank. Suspension with new bushings/shocks. Car is solid. Car was disassembled with glass out and repainted in its factory original Signal Orange color. One of the best colors to own! Date matched "deep 6" Fuchs with new rubber. S trim and steel front spoiler. All new rubber around glass, door handles, trim, etc. Interior refreshed with new carpet and headliner. Seats and door panels are original and in great condition. Too much to list here. Runs and drives fantastic. Hate to sell but life's other priorities are taking the front seat. PM with any questions or offers. I've owned the car since 2017. Clean clear title in my name, in my possession. Located near Myrtle Beach, SC.

PCAR Description:
Now available is this 1971 Porsche 911E Targa presented in Light Ivory over a Black leatherette interior. Representing one of only 935 examples built for the model year, this 911E Targa underwent a complete restoration approximately 8 years ago which included a full respray in its factory specified color. Featuring a 2.2 L fuel-injected flat-six engine mated to a 5-speed 901 manual transmission, this classic 911 Targa is now being offered by its seller in California while showing just under 100k miles on the odometer.
During the time of the restoration, this 911 was completely refinished in its factory original color of Light Ivory. The paint is stated to be in great overall condition with some minor road going wear and a small blemish indicated on the passenger door (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Exterior details include gold rear badging, a distinctive silver Targa bar and 15” Fuchs wheels which come dressed in period-correct Vredestein tires dated from 2015.
Having also been restored, the Black leatherette interior is reported to be in very nice condition. Features include factory comfort seats and the original gauges which are reported to be fully functional along with all other accessories.
This 911E carries an air cooled 2.2 L flat-six engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI). Approximately 155 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a numbers matching 5-speed 901 manual gearbox which was overhauled in July of 2020. The vacuum lines were changed in 2019 and the engine was also serviced and tuned in May of 2020 along with the replacements of all the points. This 911E is reported to be in fantastic running order. The sale of this 911E will include service records and 3 keys. If you are in the market for a classic air cooled Targa, this nicely restored 911E makes an excellent choice.

From The Motorists: "The 911E came with a great story. It was being sold by a 99 year-old gentleman who had owned the car for more than half his life. I suspect that something about this story delivered him a fairy tale ending last week. But was it worth it? Or should we simply fall back on the cliché that anything is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it?"
Auction Description:
It is hard to believe the 911 was launched almost six decades ago, but at the time of its arrival in 1963 the latest Porsche was hailed as a masterpiece and has since become an enduring motoring legend. Retaining the rear-engined layout of its predecessor, the 356, the air-cooled, horizontally opposed engine now had six cylinders but the rest of the 911 was entirely new, with monocoque construction and timeless styling that has become the most widely recognised sports car shapes ever created. In 1968 the 'B' series 911 was introduced and with it came a slightly increased (by 560mm) wheelbase - the first real measure to curb the 911's notorious (at the time) tail swinging, on-the-limit handling. With this change also came a capacity increase to 2195cc across the board and the introduction of the mid-level 911 E model which was to become its most popular for a time. Outputs for each model’s state of tune was 93kW for the base-model T, 116kW for the E and 134kW for the S. The move to 2.4 was the first of many over the 911’s lifetime, as were various specification and equipment improvements which could be described as evolutionary rather than revolutionary until the switch to water-cooled engines in 1998.
