Oil line fittings
Last week after returning from Willow Springs, the normal 3-4 spot half dollar sized oil spots were accompanied by a large pool located just inside of the passenger rear tire. After inspection, it would appear to be coming from the fittings of the oil lines (currently all factory issue). All three that I could see plus the oil tank drain plug had oil drops.
Is there anything I could do to better seal these lines? Silicon sealant? Better Earls type fittings? Just plain tighten them more? Does anyone sell steelbraided lines sized for the 911?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try tightening them first (if they're loose). But old factory hoses leak through the material or at the hose/connector joint. Your options are to replace with factory or aftermarket "factory" hoses or try an industrial hose supplier who can replace the hose using your fittings.

Reviving old thread……So when assembling oil lines is a specific sealant recommended at connectors ?
Or just tighten ?
Thanks

I don't use any sealant. Rarely is the leak past the threads.

Brad Davis also does great work rebuilding original oil lines. he is on the Registry and his website is http://www.911rennen.com/index.php

+1 for Brad Davis. He did the oil lines on my 70E project. He used new period correct fittings supplied by Jimmy Tidwell. No leaks and look perfect

I sent Brad some correct fittings and an extra piece of Elephant Racing's oil lines to match the others to the front cooler. It came back perfect.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the kind words. Always appreciated!
When crimping a line I always avoid a lubricant if possible. When assembling an ARGUS or TCH line I prefer to use Aeroquip assembly lube as well as anti seize on the the thread portion where the fitting mates with the aluminum collar.
Your question may be asking about the nut to engine connection - I do not use any sealant, just a little anti seize on the threads, ball, and shoulders of the nut where is contacts the ball lip.
Take care,
Brad
