FS: Original Aluminum Engine Lid
I had posted about the history this lid some time back and have decided to let it go. This was rescued from the dumpster at EASY about 18 years ago. It had been on a car that experienced an engine fire and was torn and bent. Jim was throwing it away. Thinking a good metal man could save it I took it home. Discussions with Bruce Anderson led me to Jack Hageman Senior's shop in Alamo. Jack was a legend in fabrication having built several Hageman road racing Specials back in the 50s and 60s. Jack had the lid for about a month, and what you see is the result. I had intended to use it on a '69 T hotrod project, but that ended up going back to original, and I've had the lid all these years. Funding my '67 S project necessitates me selling it. Jack separated the skin from the frame, repaired each and then rejoined. I questioned his use of rivets, but he did not want to use any more heat spoting or TIGing it, and assured me they would disappear with light filer and surfacer. It fits perfectly. Unfortunatly, 5mm threadserts were installed in the lower lip for rubber hold downs, but they can be easily removed and filled. It's the real deal with some interesting history. It belongs on the right car. $2500
