Rear speaker enclosure
Anybody familiar with this speaker enclosure that sits on the rear 'package shelf'? Just curious if it is something that came from the factory or maybe a dealer install back in the day. It is covered with an authentic looking basketweave texture and houses 2 speakers. Kardex says nothing about it.
Thanks,

Mine looked similar, but was not stated in the Kardex. Leather package shelf with 2 - 5" circles comprised of a hundred perforated cutout circles. It had to be factory.

The pic was so huge, hard to see details. But, for some time there was an aftermarket enclosure sold thru ads in PANO & elsewhere, called a "clover enclosure"...could this be it?

Tom,
Send me the full res pic and I'll resize it for you.
I saw the part and my guess was factory since the basketweave matched and a die was used to cut the speaker holes in the material. Substrate is wood if I remember correctly. Also, I hear the PO was a fanatic about keeping the car original.

Guys,
For whatever it is worth, I built a palletized combination receiver/CD/headphone jack/speaker/antenna unit to fit on the back seat shelf of my 73 S. It has a one plug disconnect (the female end fits under the carpet) so that when it is out, the car looks 1973 original (still has the 73 radio in the dash). But when I am driving, as in to Rennsport/Daytona, I still have 21st century sound.
