Is it really as easy as this advises ? just a plate and cap/rotor

The early repro twin-plug distributors still used an original Bosch twin-plug cap & rotor - both of which were very expensive.

The main reason that various people (eg Aaron Burns) developed the currently-available twin-plug distributors was to be able to utilise a cheap/readily-available (but very similar looking) 12-plug Marelli distributor cap.

The rotors are usually custom-made (or replaced by a magnetic trigger).

There are versions of this that are much better than others, both using the MM jag cap and a custom rotor-- the original bosch rsr caps are $500+? Rotors $???

I have one cheap one that clamps on to the distributor... Similar but larger than the one shown, but more substantial. My experience is that it has a slight miss at 6800 rpm or so and then smooths out. I think it's because the shaft isn't supported by a bearing when swinging the big rotor?

Replaced it with one of Aaron Burnhams units and it disappeared. Have since swapped back and forth. His are also made from standard bosch distributors, but use a very nice machined bolt on head instead of a sleeve that clamps on. Accurate, very pretty. They are works of art and worth the price.

I have an old andial adaptor. If you can find a cap and rotor. I still think they are inferior to other units out there.

can you post pictures of these set ups. It would be great for reference.
