When I post a pic on Pelican, I've figured out how to post pics. Here, another story..but going to try again. Of a pre 911R car...referred to as an R prototype or a "rally car"...though this one raced at Sebring & other places.
Hooray...I figured it out! The above car was one of 6 brought to the USA...prepared by the factory for racing, to hopefully boost 911 sales. This one was shipped to, and raced by Porsche Cars Northwest. Driven by Gary Wright, Todd Webb, Mike Eyerly...local hotshoes. Then they were called "rally cars"...sometimes now referred to as "R Prototypes"...I took the above photo when the car had retired from racing, was used mainly as a fun autocross car by Gary & Todd...that's Todd at the wheel here. Apologies for my fuzzy photography from decades ago, but some details show here...hood pins on the trunk lid, center gas filler, and the "R" type wheels in the rear...
