How does one know if it's time to have one's cylinders reconditioned/replated (Nikasil) when looking at them....?
Just curious as I will be looking at my P/C this week and want to make the right decision.

How does one know if it's time to have one's cylinders reconditioned/replated (Nikasil) when looking at them....?

Have a qualified shop check them for taper. Look at the cross hatch in the cylinder and see what's left. Also, check the bore size to see if it is worn. (the taper check will also disclose this).
I use a bubble hone for about 15 seconds to get the cross hatch back.
