Hot Rod Reunion.......
While a lot of my friends were over at Solvang for the weekend I took a solo drive to the 19th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion at the old Famoso Raceway just North of Bakersfield.
The first time I was here was in 1965 for the Smokers Gas and Fuel championships...... just before my 16th birthday

Very cool! Love the period push vehicles, too. My fave is probably the red Biscayne, I love those old sleepers. One of my future projects will be to finish the car I could not finish and had to sell when I was 16 in 1986: my '65 GTO. I plan on a gold with black interior "stripper" post coupe with granny hubcaps, a 4 speed, 3:90 rear end gearing and a 421 tri power beast under the hood.

Sounds great Mike..... '65 GTO is my favorite ... old rear end/new front end... :)
I'm the third owner of that yellow '67 Malibu that was built in CA. and sold in the San Fernando Valley, and its never left.
In fact it was sold at the dealership right on the Van Nuys Blvd. cruse.
I most likely cruised past it a hundred times....... who knew I would own it 25 years later....
Now it wears my '67 Van Nuys High grad tassel on it's rear view mirror... :)
......... and so it goes...... ;)
