Seat spring cage finish
Hi all-
Just read NorthernThrux's excellent thread on seat refinishing. I've had the pans powder coated. Any recommendations on the finish for the Spring cage? NorthernThrux powder coated his, will powder coat chip and flake off when the springs flex? The original finish appears to be a sort of blueing like on guns.
Thanks a lot for the advice!

Thanks for the compliment. Remember virtually all automotive suspension springs are powdercoated. Powdercoat lasts a long time, even under flexion. You could nickle plate or something else if you wish. All you are trying to do is stop them from rusting. Heck, a good spray with WD-40 would probably work just fine.
In general, they aren't getting wet and living in a harsh environment. So powdercoating was probably overkill. My spring boxes were rusted because the seats had been stored in a leaky garage for 30 plus years. But since I had them sandblasted at the same shop that did the powder coating it wasn't a big expense.
